Please don't flame me. I know neutrals are only weak negatives, but I got a totally undeserved one tonight.
It said:
Very old product. Thanks.
The item was just as described, and I bought the book in April from a RETAIL shop. I put it up for auction immediately. Today, after the auction ended in April I receive bad feedback from the person. (Thought it was a FLD auction so I could state they left bad feedback without contacting me.)
I am just mystified as to why they left me a neutral. How would you respond to this. I described the item, and it was just as described, and bought from a retail store the day before I put it up for auction.
I would have even refunded her money totally for this item if she was this upset, but I didn't know squat about it until she gives me a neutral because it was 'old"

I received a neutral similar to that recently.
On your own feedback, you can say:
"Item as described,no contact, would have refunded."
If you haven't left her feedback yet, don't leave any at all. Let her wonder why she received nothing from you and maybe she'll write and ask.

The only neutral I have ever gotten says "item was used". Auction stated that it had been worn by a 3 year old!!

I left postive feedback back in April. I'm thinking of amending it to say 'buyer should have contacted me first with any problems before leaving bad feedback" or something like that.

You can't change the feedback you left. Now all you can do is respond to the feedback she left you in your own feedback file.
Bummer, I know. The one I had I described it to a "t", took a close up photo and the fb she left was "not as expected".. what the (__) did she expect?
Some people are just never happy. Do you find the less they spend the unhappier they are?
I had an auction close for a dollar ($1) almost 10 days ago - never heard from bidder. Send second notice - she responds with I don't want it, I'll send you the $1 plus a listing fee today via PayPal. Never received it. Filed NPB alert. All for a lousy buck. Watch me get a negative out of this.

You CAN add another line to your feedback now. You don't have to wait for the other person to respond. BUT you also forfeit your right to follow up to what they say. I've already used this updated feature at ebay to respond to some feedback I've left, such as I left a neg, and the person eventually followed through, so I stated so.

Jenn,
I never used that feature before and was looking around to see if I could change the fb I gave the bidder who left me a neutral. I couldn't see where to do it though. I went to my fb and couldn't do it there. Where can I do it? At her feedback left?

Found it Jenn! We learn something new everyday don't we? Thanks for this thread. It's been bothering me since she left the neutral.

Log into my ebay. . . click on see all feedback I've left about others. ..
then find the feedback you want to respond to, and then on follow up.

What a weird feedback comment.
I think I'd ignore it completely and not bother to reply.
Although I'd be tempted to reply with something like, "Very old feedback. This item was shipped 3 months ago."

Is your buyer a newbie? She may not realize how we all regard neutrals. If she did not feel "positive" about it, but neither "negative", then a neutral is a perfectly logical choice.

Nope, she's left over 90 positive comments, one neutral, and one negative. Not what I would call a newbie.
