I know it's the wrong board, but the Amazon board is often quiet. I think I will be taking the plunge and signing up for a Merchant account for the $40/month fee. I remember when this first came up, people here were upset about having to cancel all their listings in order to list again under the merchant account. I've emailed Amazon to ask if there is a way to just cancel all of them at once, but wondered if any of you knew.

thanks -

What I'm wondering, is if I would be be off with an Amazon merchant account than listing on E-Bay Stores later. Any opinions?

Keziak,

I THINK there is a way to take down all your listings at once, BUT, I believe that it's done through the bulk loader--which is only available to Pro-Merchants. It might be that you could join the Pro-Merchant program, get access to the bulk loader and take your currently running Marketplace items down. You may also be able to upload them immediately as a pro-merchant.

There's a great place for you to find info on this--it's the Amazon Seller Connection board on Amazon itself. Unfortunately it's down for an upgrade probably for a couple more days. When it is up though, you'll find it well-populated with technically savyy pro merchant book sellers, who are more than willing to share the expertise.

Best,

Murph

I've been researching this for the last day or two for zshops and trying to figure it out. I did get as far as getting them to e-mail me the spreadsheet for bulk loading and printed the instructions.
I can e-mail you the bulk loader file that they sent me I believe it's an excel file.

Hey all,

I have the merchant account - you can pretty well download your current listings in a spreadsheet - then use the same to close them and relist them under you merchant account using the same sheet.

You do want to make sure that you do this - so that you don't get dinged the extra 99 cents for a sale after you become a z-shop.

So far it has been worth it for me. I am averaging 5-10 sales daily through amazon, so the $40 a month is a significant savings over the .99 surcharge if you aren't a merchant. I also have tons of books that are pre-ISBN that I can now load through their bulk loader that will create an ISBN and put the book in marketplace for searches.

You all have my email addy if you want any more help.....Or, Keziak, just rejoin us on the list - we miss you!

The simplest route is once you've got the Pro Merchant account set up, download their blank "bulk loader" template. If you want to actually use the template for your books, then great, just do it.

But even if you don't want to use their bulk loader for your real books, you can upload the BLANK template to them using the "PURGE AND REPLACE" feature of the bulk loader. Once all your old listings are PURGED and the REPLACED with the BLANK template your stuff will be gone.

I did this by accident once is how I know...
