I get home from work today and there's a message on my voice mail from a Postal Inspecter in Washington State-all the way across the country from me. He's investigating a package that was mailed from my address. Says to please call him-that's he's sure there is a reasonable explaination. Wondering what the heck he is talking about, I call him back. Seems a lady is upset about a book I mailed to her. It was a National Lampoon book-need I say more? LOL
I tell him she ordered it. He's surprised. I explain about half.com and that someone at her home ordered that book. I had to explain in detail how half.com works-that I never had contact with the buyer-only the address was sent to me. She evidently thought I was stalking her and was completely freaked out about getting this book. I'm picturing some kid sitting there listening to this whole thing and not saying a word!
Think a charge back from Half.com is on the way? Yep-it's a full moon.
I'm way to lazy to correct typos-if you're going to correct my posts-you've got your hands full!

Guess the kid screwed up and wasn't home before mommy so he could receive the item and she wouldn't be the wiser for having had her credit card charged for his purchase...Hope he 'fesses up so you don't get charged back...It would be pretty C.S. for her to do so since she must have let him have her password!

NO password necessary. Anyone can set up a new account on Half. All you need is the name, address, credit card number and a valid e-mail address.

I had the same type of thing happen to me with half.com. I actually got a handwritten letter from an elderly gentleman (could tell by the handwriting) that he had gotten a book from me and didn't know why. I actually called his anwering machine and explained the info I had on the buyer (user name was about all) and told him perhaps someone had got it for him as a gift and forgot to tell him it was coming. Poor guy, I guess it would be strange to get something like that from a stranger.

When transactions are done anonymously through a third party, using a credit card, this kind of stuff is bound to happen! That's one PLUS for Ebay--it's a person-to-person transaction (Oops! Er, ah, well, it used to be before automated billing, WBN's etc...)
