I sold a widget to a newbie ~ feedback of 4 in the last month. For some reason UPS took 12 days to deliver the package. For the last 7 days I have received daily emails ~ sometimes 2 or 3 times a day asking about the package. I gave this ahole the tracking number ~ but instead of looking it up ~ he just emailed me over and over. I would respond atleast once a day with an update based on what the UPS site would say.

Today I see on the site that it was received. I was so glad that this transaction was over..........only it was not!

Now I get an email stating that the widget is not as described ~ that one part does not stay together and another part only half works.........and, "
I unfortunately will have leave poor feedback on ebay.

I will leave out the shipping problems as i am sure they were not your
fault.

I will wait to here your response before submitting my feedback"

I emailed the guy back and told him that the widget I sent was just as described in my auction and if it did not arrive that way then the way to handle this was by filing a claim with UPS...........and I would be happy to help him do that. I also told him I did not appreciate the threat of neg feedback when I had done nothing wrong ~ but if he did leave me neg feedback ~ that I would do the same.

I am so glad that I don't leave feedback now when payment is received ~ I used to ~ but never again!

This guy will probally neg me ~ but atleast I will get to do the same!

My recent newbie problem.
Won auction on June 11, I get MO on Saturday June 23. This is a large heavy item (transmission)with truck freight. Newbie leaves neg feedback on June 26 for item not received and unable to reach me via phone (I was out for the weekend).

Now he is willing to split the cost of a moderator to get the neg removed?????

I hope this isn't a continuing trend amongst newbies. I think the current crop of newbies were raised over the last year on bad press about fraud, paranoia has set in for sure. It would seem logical though if one was so paranoid why not buy from a store in one's area? Or better yet, spend $1.10 on insurance.

I've got one of those newbie threatening me with a neg too. I listed a used suit, it got alot of bids but no questions prior to it ending.

Minutes after it ended he emailed me his instructions, that I will provide the original bag it came in ( which I don't have, I bought it used), I will provide my original store receipt ( ok how about the thrift store receipt, LOL).

That it is my responsibility to insure not his even though my terms are clearly stated about insurance, but I'll let that go and I'll insurance it myself, if he pays.

HE states the only way he can pay is Billpoint, which I don't accept. I do accept paypal, but he wouldn't here of using them since I only ship to a confirmed address.

It's been a few days and he says he sent a MO , but I already know that I'll be getting a neg, because I don't have the bag or the store receipt to send him, and my auction didn't state that I did. I don't even know if it would have come with a bag.

The only good thing is that a neg really won't hurt me that bad, I am close to 800 with only 2 neutrals 2 negs now, he is a zero and a -1 rating will hurt him alot more than my 800. Just pee me off more than anything, since I know the thing is described very well.

Ah, the wonderful world of whackos!

My only neg came from an unreasonable buyer whose idea of compromise was for me to give in to her demands totally and completely. I didn't - I got a neg - but I wear it proudly. It is all a part of ebay life.

UPDATE

Email this morning:"I did intend for you to perceive my statement as a threat merely a request for an explanation. I will not leave any feedback negative or otherwise.
If you read my e-mail more thoroughly you would see that at no time did i blame you for shipping problems. It is not worth my time to file a claim for something so inexpensive. It would not surprise me if UPS beat the sh#* out of the package before it reached me. It might be a good idea to ship your merchandise in better packaging."

This is the reason no one should leave feedback when the paymemt is received. If I had left feedback then ~ I am 100% certain that he would have negged me.

By the way ~ my packaging was fine.......I have shipped out over 2000 packages ~ only 3 have ever been damaged ~ I have loads of feedback for great packaging!

I am not sure this newbie even knew I could neg him back.........he sure changed his tune!

It is interesting to me that he does not want to file a claim.........I sure would if the widget arrived as he claimed it did..

Sometimes its better to go the extra mile and just offer to give them a refund - not with a smirk and a growl but to be pleasnt with your comms, Sure it hurts the pride a little, especially when your in the right, Bottom line -Your doing business not battling the bidders. I dont neg its too dangerous.
Best of luck

If your package took 12 days to arrive, YOU can file a claim. UPS ground, from coast to coast should take 5 business days. You can get your shipping costs refunded.
