I hear so much about the best time to launch new items is on Sunday nights but at what time or does that matter? All replys are welcomed.

I think the conventional wisdom (right or wrong) is that you need to time it so your auctions end before the East Coasters (like me) go to bed and after the West Coasters are home and on line for the evening. This means roughly between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. PST.
That is the time of heaviest use of eBay which brings its own problems...the system moves more slowly and it sure seems to me that 90% of ebay crashes happen on Sunday evenings right when my auctions are ending! Still, I think there are more people in the "impulse bidder" category on line Sunday evenings so I pretty much stick with that time frame.

I set my auctions to end between 8-9 pm Pacific time on Fri or Sat. I do this only because Sunday & Monday are my days off. I avoid Sunday endings because of the heavy traffic. A while back, I surveyed the hits on one of my auctions. Nights of bad TV got the most hits, they were Tues, Wed, Sat.(Sunday is 0 hits because I have nothing up) By no means is this a creditable survey and only reflects one item of guy stuff. I should mention that I'm a part-timer and most of my auctions run in the winter.

I still Dont Understand some of the logic of trying to Launch auction on sunday when everyone else does.
I dont find there is any one perfect day to start or finish auctions, I launch 5 to 10 , 10 day auction every other day.
week one Mon wed, fri.
second week tue, thur.
so on.
on saturdays and Sundays if and when I am home I launch from 5 to 10 all auctions Always in the morning hours I alway have auction close and starting at differnt hours.
I live on the East coast in NY I find the best hours for getting bids are between 11pm to 5 AM and from 8 AM to 4 PM no matter what day my auctions are launched.
I try to Keep listing at the same pace all the time even on Free listing days I dont go over board and if I launch 10 or 20 auctions I schedule half for the AM and half for the late after noon or evening.
Just 15 months selling on Ebay and I find Auction activity very perdictable.
For my Bin Price items if they dont get bought in the frist 36 hours most wont gets no interest till the last hours.
For Auction with no bin price if they dont get a bid within the frist 36 hours or the frist 8 veiws most wont get a bid till the end when they are snipped.
I have ran 5, 7 and 10 day auctions and find that for some reason 10 listing are 68% more likely to get bid on by the end of the auction.
AS much as people complain about fuzzy bad pictures now and then my camera will take a nasty piture and I will use it any how most of the time auctions with Fuzzy picture will get more interest and bidding same with Descriptions SOme times my auction descrition is one line and two paragraphs for shipping terms these items get more interest and bids as well, in fact I find in many cases the more detail I try to add to my listing the more question I get from people looking.
I find when my listings drop under 15 or 20 at any time dureing the month veiws, bidding and interest on the ones that are listed tend to drop off.
The best bidding hours on my auctions is from 5AM till 3 PM monday - friday , I find bids and veiws on sunday as slow as ebay is on the weekend usually.
I also Found after test different auction tools that items launched from a service like AW are 55% more likely to get better views and bids then auction list right at ebay or with auction software.

I have been using eBay off and on for 6 years....I use to post and close most of my auctions on Sunday night, but since the endless down time of eBay, I have switched and began ending most of my auctions during the week days in the evening.
ONE of the reasons, beyond the over load on eBay on Sunday and their down time - We have multiple web sites, and a system on them that keeps a record of the days and times of day when hits occur - oddly enough, regardless of the item, our sites get the most hits during the week, and usually during the 7-8PM hours West Coast Time – the same goes for most of our web site sales which occur in the evening or extremely early morning hours.
I like many try to end my auctions before the East Coast goes to bed, and after the West Coast folks have had time to get home from work.
I have done some morning auctions, and have sold a good bit that way, but I suppose I am just more accustom to ending auctions in the evening, and that is basically what we still do.
During this time of year when things are fairly slow, I have ceased posting on eBay, basically at all. During this summer I have switched and am posting on Yahoo, and a number of less costly or free auctions, till the traffic builds up again. At the moment I find I am selling as well on Yahoo at a great deal less cost than on eBay, and not incurring the down time of eBay or the expense.
What finally sent us to other auctions sites for the summer is eBay’s ridiculous restriction of web site links on one’s auction. Being able to share our web site links is extremely important to us, and I just won’t waste money on eBay and not be allowed to share my web site link related to said item I may be selling. ALSO the pain in the derrière of having to manually insert our auctions to keep from getting the automatic BillPoint insertion from Ebay.
We have used BillPoint, but I don’t like the system, and won’t use it in the future, and highly resent eBay’s trying to force it, and covertly placing it in to one’s auction when you aren’t aware!
“IF” sales on Yahoo continue as they have recently, into the fall, we may well just avoid eBay all together. We are also using a number of niche auction sites which are working very well for us. We use one which encourages you to put your web site link in – can you believe that!
When the kids get back to school, and parents start thinking about the fall and Christmas we will again start posting a goodly bit on eBay – “if” Yahoo continues to produce, we will stay there – why pay eBay if you can sell the same thing for less on Yahoo?

Hi folks. Can I suggest you try accessing your auctions through eBay.co.uk as we are all asleep. I do hope this works, but have not tried it as am asleep!
