I have been away from ebay work for about 6 weeks. I had my first set of 70 auctions end yesterday, and I made about 600% profit. I have been hearing all these storie of people holding their goods until the holiday season. Good luck to all of you...

This is so vague as to have no meaning. Is it net profits? How many items sold? Was the profits mainly from a few items? For all we know you made 1200% profit on one item, one sold for even, and the rest didn't sell, hense 600% gross profit.
My sales are a little droopy yet my net profits are still 500%. I would prefer higher sales and lower profit to keep the cash flowing.

Ouch! I just wanted to bring some good news around. This past week, I sold off two collections of trains (50) auctions and some odds and ends totalling about 70 auctions. Total paid, about $250. All sold for over $1600. Take away some fees etc, I see about 600%. I usually make about that much on these goods, but I didn't expect it at this time of the year, because of all the summer blues being sung around here...

I listed a bunch last week [books] and the sell-through is less than I'd hoped, so I am rethinking my strategy of listing a lot at this time. Another reason: I put low bids on some desirable books for sale on ebay and won them, making me think the buyers aren't out there very strong right now.
Amazon is doing well, though, so I may shift over to there for a while. This will also help with my own vacation plans, if I have fewer ebay payments hanging out there to arrive when I'm away.

We have 11 items running (not counting a vehicle), 6 of which have bids with 4 days to go. Not bad, in fact I'm pretty happy with that! The 5 that have no bids are items that we always relist using BUY IT NOW options so I don't expect any bidding on them anyway. (BIN same price)
The car had a bid which I cancelled because the bidder failed to contact me first (as stated in the description) and has still not responded. I just couldn't let a better than $12,000.00 bid stand without talking to the bidder first. (I did email him first explaining)
