As a seller I haven't had any problems with Pay Pal. As a buyer it has been one big pain.
A few weeks ago my wallet/purse was stolen. I replaced everything. I tried updating my Pay Pal account with new credit cards and checking account numbers. The checking account was rejected (no reason giving) My bank told me they (Pay Pal)didn't make the deposits into my account. Pay Pal says it is my banks fault. When I entered my cards they were accepted but when I make a payment they are rejected by my bank (claims Pay Pal). My bank tells me there is no reason for the reject. Anyone have a clue why I can't use Pay Pal?

grrrrrrrr

As to the CC, it can be the bank. I used a certain card for a long time w. Paypal, then all of a sudden every transaction was instantly denied. I had to add a second card. Every now and again CC change their policies. One card started denying purchases with ship to different than bill to addresses. I had to call and specifically add my work address as an allowed ship to.

Please feel free to send me the pertinent information ([email protected]). I will see if someone can step you through correcting this.

HEY paypaldamon!!!

I had a buyer pay me via Paypal. I have two accounts, one personal and one Premier. I have a link to the PERSONAL one in the auction listing. How come when he paid me, it went to my Premier account (which, of course, cost me money)??? The only time I will let anyone use the other account is for something VERY high dollar they want to use their charge card for (very seldom) Whats up with this?

damon,
Would it be possible to set up a personal account with the same info as the premium account?

OR do I need a new e-mail address and a different bank account?

I'd like to set up a personal account for those low dollar sales.

Can you give me some directions on how this can be done.

Thanks,

packer

Packer: It let me set up a different account, but I had to use a different email. It won't let me add my regular email to it, either. It tells me another user has already registered that ID. (duh) It does let me insert the logos into my ebay litsings, though. I guess I will just keep workin around it..........(I havene't verified yet....wonder if it will let me use the same bank account)

Thanks yumacoot,

Keep me informed as to how it goes.

Maybe damon will come along and give us some helpful advise.

Hi yumacoot,

Payments would be directed through:

1. email address
2. The link (which would have the email address embedded).

I would need to have the transaction information to look at it.

Hi packer,

No, accounts can't be set up with the same information. Security measures don't allow the same information to appear on two accounts (credit cards, bank account, etc).

Popnrock, you might find this article of interest...

http://www.wired.com/news/print/0,1294,37642,00.html

Excerpt:

When Kendall Dawson heard about PayPal, a wildly popular new service that lets surfers send money via email, he thought it would be a great way to pay for items on eBay, so he signed up.

Or rather, tried to sign up. But each time he typed his credit card number into PayPal's website, it returned a message saying the card couldn't be confirmed and to contact the credit card company. A check with the card company showed no problem with the card.

After weeks, repeated queries to PayPal, and repeated replies that the problem was on his end, Dawson finally received a short email reply that revealed the real reason his card wouldn't go through.

PayPal's fraud screening system -- run by a company called CyberSource, which collects and analyzes data from more than 2,000 other Web merchants, including Amazon.com and Buy.com -- had flagged his card as a fraud risk.

Dawson was first annoyed, then perplexed: "All my credit cards are in good standing," he said. "I have never once been late with a payment."

Loggia, thank you for the link. It was interesting reading. Well I am off to see if I can get my account activated again.

Hi,

Yes, our screening process does catch legitimate users at times. We do, however, have a workaround for users to correct those that are flagged. It generally requires documentation to prove that you are the holder of the card you are trying to register.

Many items have changed since that article was written.

Hello,
I have used paypal almost from its start up. As a seller and a buyer at ebay and others, the service so far has been great. Updating to a premier account has been the only hickup. It is the only online auction paying service that I use .
