Just when photopoint was ok again, the site is having technical problems again and pics disappear. Sent them a mean letter. Fortunately I saved all my pics on a disk. Can we trust them?

Funny you should mention that, monique...I just went there...just got a blank page...Did a search and this is what I got:

Using another Search address, I was re-routed to PhotoTrail....which DOES NOT WORK....

Like you, I have my pics in a folder on disk, but.....GRRRRRR!!! is right!

Just when they started charging too...and did you get the letter telling you Photopoint was sold to Pandelic Software, who was the original OWNER???

Ghosh..shosh..suddenly the pics are back. Hope pics will be still there when I look at page. Will cross my fingers.

I've been using PhotoIsland since the fiasco with PhotoPoint.

I've also emailed PhotoPoint twice telling them I'm cancelling my account effective immediately (first time was early last week) and they are no longer authorized to charge my credit card annually for the service. (Yep, I did the stupid thing and checked off that little box to authorize them to charge me annually.) I told them to respond and confirm that my account has been cancelled.

And guess what?

So far, no reponse to my first email. Yesterday I fired off the second email after I was able to get into my account. I deleted all my pics, but it disturbed me that I could still get in. So I knew they hadn't either paid any attention to, or gotten around to, my first email.

Well, what do you know?

I just got my response from PhotoPoint. As was to be expected, the very first thing this "helpful" rep did was make sure I understood that they will not give refunds under any circumstances. Then she said that I could still use my account for a year since I'd already paid for it (and of course wasn't going to be getting my money back anyway, she thought).

I told her that, no problem, I was getting my money back anyway through my credit card company for the chargeback I filed during the several days they were down and rumors as to their fate were running wild. My purpose was to ensure they would not continue to charge me annually, as I'd authorized them to do when I initially paid for their "service".

I repeated myself yet again that I wanted my account closed immediately and some sort of confirmation that it had been done. She responded shortly thereafter with that confirmation.

So, it actually took 3 emails to get someone to finally close my account. Ridiculous.

Well...Glad to see everyone is back on their feet...I did get a response from the CEO at
Pandelic Software, telling me....duhhhh! that they were down...Funny! I had not noticed...

Anyway, I signed up with PictureTrail.com and really like it.

The reason it did not work yesterday was entirely my fault: I had disabled Cookies to that site, with my Ad-Subtract program...

I re-did my Restoration folder and put it on my "About Me" page, and later will transfer my Travel pics to them also. They are so much FASTER than Photopoint, who has far too much garbage on their home page....

Of course, I expect they will start charging also...but if it works when I need it, no problem.
