I need some advice. I had this transaction that took forever to complete. I filed NBP and was getting ready to file for FVF when the bidder emailed and said they needed my address...again...I had already sent it twice...you all know the type.
Anyway, the payment did finally arrive. So I sent the item. It has now been over 2 months and now they have left feedback for me. Nothing spectacular, but it was a positive.
Now I am sitting here racking my brain as to what I am suppose to leave for them. Since they did finally pay, I don't want to leave a negative. I am thinking a neutral may be in line because I am not sure what I could put in a positive. I mean, I had them pegged for a deadbeat for sure, already filed NPB and everything, what could I possibly say in a positive?
I actually never expected to hear from them again and just considered my lucky to have gotten paid at all.
I just had a tooth pulled a week ago, have a dry socket and I don't feel so good. So I think my mind is working slow right now or I would be able to come up with a answer to this myself. Since my brain cells seem to be on vacation right now, can some of you please help me figure out what to say. Because right now all I really want to say is "I thought I would never get payment".

Ever hear the phrase "Don't bite the hand that feeds you?" This bidder of yours is a potential repeat customer for you. You don't want to leave him any sort of feedback that will discourage him from buying from you. I completely agree with you that a negative is too harsh, and a neutral may also be a little much. Personally, I think in this case I might just not leave feedback. If he pressed the issue insisting on feedback, I might try a nicely worded positive such as:
Payment took long to arrive, but transaction successfully completed
You really just want to make sure you don't alienate this bidder from your future auctions.

Thanks everyone. I don't intend to leave a negative or a neutral. After all they did finally come through even it was extremely late getting here.
I haven't decided on what to say as yet in a positive. I really appreciate the suggestions however. At this point, I think I will just not leave any kind of feedback at all.

I think I would use the same approach when doing a negative or neutral that seems to work. The idea is to state something non-judgementally and let the reader draw his own conclusion:
