I won an item last night, and haven't heard from the seller, although they have put up hundreds of auctions since I won this item, including almost two dozen of the identical item I bought. I know this is against ebay rules.

Checking their feedback through v-rane, most of their bad feedback is because they don't contact the buyer. I've e-mailed and heard nothing.

I'm afraid this transaction is going to turn into a hassle!

Give it a little more time... the seller may just be slow to contact buyers. The last few times I've bought something, more often than not I've waited a couple of days before hearing anything, even when I emailed first. That isn't the greatest situation, of course, but don't write the seller off just yet....

I can't figure out why on earth someone would post that many of an item. Its not highly desirable, and I figure they will only get bids on 2 or 3 of the almost 2 dozen they put up. And why didn't they send end of aucion e=mails before posting that many of the same item?

I sell full time, and I know things happen. I wouldn't be concerned about this except they have listed so many of the same item before contacting me.

Maybe they use a program to schedule auctions and they are really not sitting at their computer listing them all manually?

It's possible they have not even been at their computer since you have won their item.

But why would anyone post that many of an indentical item? Like i said, there is limited market for it. I just don't get why anyone would pay that many listing fees when only a couple will sell.

They must have lots of it. Since you say it is not a big item they most likly just want to blow it out.

Since a seller usually contacts his buyers within 3 days I don't think that you should start worrying as yet.

I wonder why people always imagine the worst right up front? No need to get a funny feeling just yet.

I've bought and sold enough on ebay to know when to start wondering about a transaction.

Here is the thing.

List 2 dozen items that are under $5 each. Listing fees alone $7.20. If only 2 or 3 sell, you will still lose money.

The bad feedback is for lack of communication. More than one person left neutrals saying, "I need an address to send payment. PLEASE send it."

Therefore, I'm suspecting a bad transaction when its been 24 hours, they have listed thousands of items, their feedback saying they communicate poorly, and have listed 2 dozen items identical to what i bought.

I'm not just suspecting this may be a bad transaction based on the fact I have not heard, but because of all three things.

1. not hearing
2. their feedback
3. listing so many identical items at such a low price, being relatively undesirable.

If it's so undesireable, maybe you should hope they don't ever contact you. Then you don't have to buy that "dog"!

Sorry, I couldn't resist...Seriously, though, if this seller is a volume seller and has hundreds of new items up it's a pretty sure bet they use some sort of auction assisting software. They probably send out all EOA's at the same time...within 3 days, they may even be guilty of missing some. I have found this to be a problem with some volume sellers. I avoid them as a rule, just for that reason.

I am one of those "overly anxious" buyers you read about here. I often email a seller withing moments of the close of the auction. I want it paid for and on it's way within a few hours of close ....anyway, this seller emails me telling me she will send me an EOA within 3 days as eBay allows and please not to contact her again until I had received her EOA!!!! In the lenght of time it took her to personally send me that email she could have sent me my total and I could have had it paid for with PP or BP. I found it amusing. Some people have a set way of doing things (whether it's efficient or not) and don't like having there "system" messed with.

hit the post button just as I was getting started good...

Please don't take offense, but why does it matter to you if the seller lists a thousand identical widgets, and why is against eBay policy?

...And we are allowed 3 days to communicate, maybe they are busy shipping, listing, packing and getting the kids to nd from Daycamp...taking the dog to the vet.. If they don't get to you in two more days, then worry...Why waste the energy and effort now?

I'm just saying something seems wrong that they would list so many of these. Not my money that's going to be wasted on listing fees, but with them posting so many auctions and not answering e-mail (this said in some feedback), their other feedback, makes me wonder about this entire transaction.

I think there is a rule against selling more than 10 of the same identical thing because if everyone did it then the would be tons of SMC or whatever junk up and eBay.

Jenndiggy, you *have* received advice.

The advice given to you was to wait a couple more days. Sellers have 3 BUSINESS days to contact you. If they do not contact you by then, THEN you have reason for concern.

As far as what they are selling, how many they are selling, why they are selling, etc - has no bearing on your transaction with the seller. Obviously they have their own reasons, and no one else needs to understand what their reasons are.

I've bought and sold enough on ebay to know when to start wondering about a transaction.

Then I will just have to say that your time would have been better spent worrying about the transaction before you bid.

I'm not jumping on you. I just wonder what kind of advice you are expecting? You can wait or you can e-mail the seller and tell them you have a funny feeling.

You obviously know you are shouting because you seem very irate and you were not writing in all capitals when you started this thrad. Perhaps the person has a day job and will write in the evening. An lots of people do use automated software to list so stop being paranoid.

PS The moderators are only human and won't lock the thread right this minute. Maybe you need a break away from the computer to calm down.

EVERY BAD FEEDBACK THIS PERSON HAS RECEIVED IS FOR NOT CONTACTING BUYERS

I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING ON EBAY

Jendiggy: I don't see *anyone* here "jumping on you". You asked for advice, and everyone here has given you pretty much the same advice - to just NOT worry about this transaction until you have real reason to.

I also think that my lashing out and telling us that you are "more of a seller" than the rest of us (just because we don't agree with you) is a childish way to handle this. You asked for our opinions, and we gave it.

MAYBE I DON'T NEED A BREAK AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER. MAYBE PEOPLE DON'T NEED TO ASSUME THAT EVERY TIME SOMEONE HAS A QUESTION ABOUT SOMETHING THAT THEY ARE JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON

Sorry Jenndiggy1-I hit the post button by accident before I was through typing MY THOUGHT ON THE SUBJECT...I thought I was being rather cleaver myself!

If they never contact you, what has it cost you? Are you concerned they will not contact you and then leave you bad FB???

I don't know what to think. They are selling something that doesn't have a large market, have listed a ton of them. I do want the item, but see in their feedback they are very uncommuncative. This is my concern.

Jenndiggy: I don't see ANYWHERE here in this thread where anyone was jumping all over you, or telling you that you didn't know what you were doing.

However, the temper tantrum (screaming and swearing) may make us start to think otherwise.

jenndiggy1,

I will lock this thread at your request, but please realize that you won't always hear what you want. No one was rude, everyone was trying to be helpful.
