Maybe some other computer techie knows the inside fix on this one.

For some reason, I can't get mail to: URLs to get Outlook to come up. I have to go in and reset the Internet option--it works but it just doesn't stick around for the next session. This is a big pain to do every time I go online. Is there some inside regedit or other trick. I've set this in the folders options too. Something just ain't right. I'm using Outlook 2000 SR-1 and IE 5.5 with SP1 and Win 98 SE.

Are you doing Tools, Internet Options, Programs, from within IE?

Yep did that and also did the URL file type bit under My Computer View Folder options. There's also a default mail program setting in my Earthlink dial up and that's properly set as well.

I'm thinking reinstall Outlook and the SR-1 patch for it, but I'd like to avoid that.

Not knowing what else to do, I ran a repair on IE and did the same with Office 2000. Fired it up, clicked on an auction mailto link and...drum roll...it worked! Ta Dah! If it stays that way, I am a happy camper.

Remember once you go to tool and set the program you have to click the apply button for the changes to be saved, if you still have a problem use the Internet explorer repair or restore tool.
