I'm just wondering - when PayPal fights a chargeback for you, how do you know if they actually did so - or did so in a competent manner?
First, to address PayPal's possible reply that they fight all chargebacks with the highest quality possible in the universe: all right, say there is a mix-up. A glitch on a computer. They happen, to even the greatest companies. Then what? How would the user know their chargeback was rejected because PayPal made a mistake?
Second, how do we know that PayPal is doing a good job defending chargebacks? I am not impressed with PayPal's communication with its customers. Is this the same type of communication used for defending chargebacks?

Well, I have my own merchant account, so I KNOW what is going on.
Regarding paypal, it is probably irrelevant. This is because if you follow ALL their rules, you will be protected, whether or not the chargeback is granted. So, be sure to follow the rules to the letter, and you should be fine. Maybe.
