Support ???? For what ????

Does boycotting ebay really hurt ebay or does it hurt the sellers I mean after all which companies worth billions which companies are already crying about slow sales and low winning bid ????

When you want to hurt a company you dont boycott the company you boycott there advertisers.

Here is what happens even if ebays number manage to drop marginally dureing a boycott the chance of the remaining sellers item to sell goes up.

everytime ebay listings drop sales incress even as a small seller on ebay I can feel the difference in my sales when item number drop on ebay.

When bidding incresses ebays income from FVF goes up they earn more money, When sellers sell more they are motivated and list more then the boycott ends the people who were not listing double there offering on ebay and ebay makes far more money.

Boycott Ebay, you are are sniffing something, right? Why on earth would I bite the hand that feeds me?
We all have issues with eBay. For instance, unstable site stability or non paying bidders, but would I boycott ebay? Not a rat's chance.
Two and a half years online and every now and then, a dissatisfied seller's vain attempt to boycott eBay.
If this was just a hobby and I could stand to make a grand statement--maybe would consider. But EBAY has been very very good to me and would never ever boycott my bread and butter. JMHO.

Why would anyone boycot E-Bay?

We've been selling for 1 year and are having a lot of fun and making money! The more effort you put in, the more money and fun you can have.

If you don't like E-Bay don't use it!

eBay is a fascinating, one of a kind concept which is revolutionizing the way people do business. eBay is just trying to keep up with life in the fast lane and trying to make money.

If you had told me 5 years ago that I would be selling junk out of my garage working 5 hours a week, and making very good money doing it, I really would have laughed. eBay has opened a lot of doors for a lot of folks, and believe it or not, a lot of us are grateful!

When it boils down to the bottom line - when we get past all the love, hate, blood, sweat, and tears that we spew out on this board - only one thing matters.

EBay is the only game in town, and probably will be for quite some time. Yeah, some of their decisions are bad, and some are good. You can adapt, and continue to enjoy success, or you can bellyache about it and get run over.

Sooner or later, eBay will get some sort of real competition. In the meantime we are all just going to have to live with it.

Well maybe the rest of us will enjoy an increase in sales by getting rid of part of the competition.I think its a great idea!

Just makes it better for buyers and the sellers that don't participate in this

Almost 5 years on ebay, and I have issues with them also, but wouldn't 'boycott' it, nope, no way.

My Grandpa used to say to me:

Missy: Some folks they don't get mad, they get even. Me, I don't get even, I get ahead!

And so he did! And so will I!

My feeling is that there are times when Boycotts offer a valid means of protest.

However, in the case of eBay, while I don't dispute that eBay's treatment of Seller's is deplorable at times, it is my feeling that it would be much more pro-active for disgruntled sellers to simply start moving some of their auctions to other sites.

There are several good ones to choose from, and if you read the 'Other Auctions' posts here on AW you will get a good feel for the different sites you now have to choose from.

Perhaps the time has come for the eBay Boycott Contingent to spend some quality time and effort promoting their wares elsewhere. You don't have to abandon eBay completely in order to do this; just remove some of your proverbial eggs into other baskets.

While I applaud your efforts, I don't support your means! The only ones who will be hurt or affected by a Boycott such as this are yourselves.

If you are having success selling on ebay be thankful now. Ebay will come back and bite the hand that feeds you. If you depend on Ebay for your income then you are foolish. You will soon end up like all the rest of us frustrated sellers who have had thousands of auctions on ebay only to have auctions shut down for silly reasons, or to be suspended for no reason at all.

Bottom line is Ebay will do what they want to whomeever they want whenever they want. They dont care about anyone but themeselves and how much money will end up in Meg's purse.

Until more people go to other auctions site and begin posting the auctions they normally post on Ebay, Ebay will continue to prosper and continue their dictatorship like policies.

Make the switch now!!!

I suppose I'm one of the few sellers that is greatful that eBay is as successful as it is.

How else can I make a large amount of money with the complete freedom of working when I want, where I want, without being accountable to anyone but myself.

Wake up, folks. When eBay is successful - you are successful. Is it that hard to understand?

Please feel free to boycott eBay. I'll use the time to upload my listings faster than usual, while the boycotting sellers are elsewhere.

Be careful what you wish for, as it might happen and then you will really be screwed.

I am all for the boycott!! I would be more than happy to absorb any excess sales from those who decide to take off a week!

I love Ebay. It has given me the freedom to be my own boss, be available for my spouse whenever needed, and spend more time pursuing interests and goals. When I go the P.O. to mail off packages, I think about the clerks I see there, and think how fortunate I am to have this opportunity, or else I would be putting in my 8 plus hours a day elsewhere too. I have paid my dues in the "real world" and hated it. I always wanted to be my own boss, set my own hours, and be solely responsible for my successes and failures. Now I'm in charge and I love it. And I'm making better money than I ever have at any of those other jobs. Plus, I don't have to commute and sit, pissed, in traffic, I don't have to have work appropriate clothes, and spend silly money on going out to eat lunch. I traded in my expensive sedan for a used hatchback wagon that I bought for $1000 and kissed massive car payments goodbye. That freed up several hundred dollars a month. By the way, bought the car off of Ebay! Then, I sold my "Career Clothes" on Ebay! Now I fix my own lunch, which I would rather do anyway. And I'm not stressed and frazzled, always trying to find enough time for my family, chores, and just time to myself.

So when I think about the things I don't like about Ebay, I don't give up and say Screw them!! Nope, I know they are a business, just like all of us, and that change is necessary. I'm ready to adapt and make changes but the one thing i won't change is my new life--and I have it due to selling on Ebay!
So please, by all means, take some time off and wallow in your anger. Meanwhile I'll be heading to the P.O. in my hatchback wagon!

selling junk out of my garage working 5 hours a week

wbbell,

do you really only work 5 hours a week at this? i've got to be doing something wrong! day before yesterday i realized i'd been working a month straight with only 3 half days off. you have no idea how envious i am that you can do it in 5 hours a week!

on topic - i'd boycott if i thought it would do any good, but i don't. although i did participate in the jacket auction . i'm grateful to have ebay to sell on. just wish they were more concerned about their customers.

It was sort of my goal when I started, not to spend more than about 5 hours a week. If I sat down and worked it out it would probably be closer to 7-8 hours a week, these days. I do have a full time job and spend time with the kids at night and weekends.

Using software really cuts the amount of time required.

Spoken like a member of the Ebay board of directors.

When are you going to wake up and smell the coffee? That is what ebay wants you to believe. They will suck you in and get you dependant on their auction site.

Just wait. All the stuff you have read about here will happen to you eventually. Then you will be posting messages on how Ebay has wronged you. Don't say you were not warned.

Well, I've made close to six figures on my eBay stock already and well over that in my selling, so if that makes me on eBay's board of directors, God Bless.

I'm smelling the coffee. It's Starbucks and I spent a little extra to get the extra shot of espresso.

Perhaps you disgrunteled sellers should spend a bit more time on your business than complaining about eBays. After all, you're only limiting yourself...

There's an endless world of opportunity to you if you open your eyes.

Well, I didn't boycott, I've just taken the past few weeks off in anticipation of my own vacation and waiting for the deadbeats to go back to school. (OK, maybe not all of them will go bakc to school) And waiting for the fall season to start up! I guess unofficially, and unknowingly, I did take part in the boycott. From the way my sales were going though, I don't think it really helped anybody else out though!
