I have a lot of mags that aren't in the best condition over all, but the ads are in great shape. I haven't been very successful at trying to figure out which ones, if any, would sell on ebay. These mags are from the 60's and 70's. Any advice or direction would be great. Thanks!
K.
What magazines are these? Popular ads from that era include:
Marlboro Man
American car ads from the 60's (most 70's aren't that collectible yet...)
Foreign car ads (porsche, lancia, jaguar, etc..)
Chris-Craft boat ads
Airline Ads (united, TWA, etc...)
Guinness Beer ads
Liquor ads
The list could go on and on... your best bet is to do a search on completed items and see what similiar ads have sold for. I would recommend grouping the ads in lots of 10 or more and selling them off as sets. This creates higher bidding, and a larger sell-through rate. Good luck!

Coca-Cola ads!
Budweiser ads!
Feminine Protection ads! (jk on that one)
Any major products, and car ads, sell well.

Mind if I add to your question? I have a lot of old magazines too. Look..Life..ect. If I want to sell the ads..should I remove the ads or keep them in the book? From looking at some of them on Ebay..it appears that a lot are just kept in the mag..but some are removed. Which is better?
If removed..what's a safe way to do that?
Also..where would you suggest listing them? ie..what categories?

If it were me, I'd keep the magazines whole, but be sure to mention the different ads.
If you decide to cut some out, I'd take the center staple out and using a straight edge ruler cut with a *very* sharp razor blade down the center where the fold is. If the buyer wants to trim it more, then they can do so.
I agree there seems to be a better market for car ads than some of the others. I'd include (to those mentioned above) ads for all cigarette, cigar and lighter related items. Also old (then new) ads that mention music (records) of that period. If your magazines are really old, some buyers are interested in vintage clothing ads, old kitchen appliances, etc.
Catagories to list in: Check out 'lighter +ads' on completed auctions to see what they've sold for. Do the same for the other ads.
