I saw an auction that ended with a "buy it now" for 25 cents. Why would anyone bother listing something with a buy it now of 25 cent when it cost them 30 cents just to list it? Am I missing something here?

Shipping was reasonable at $3.50 USPS, would cost them about that to mail it.

They must really be wanting to get rid of it.

What was the postage/handling? It would have been funny if the seller reserved at 25 cents and the first bid was a penny.

Maybe they are trying to "buy feedback" to get up to a certain number. Like you need 10 to be able to take Billpoint. Isn't it 100 to be able to do dutch auctions?

No I don't think that's it as they already have feedback of 100++

It might have been a "relist". So, if it sells, there is no listing fee. They realy want to get rid of it!!!

I feel like we're playing "20 questions!" *LOL* I don't think it's just a relist as they had four different listings for this item all with a buy it now of 25 cents. And to top it off they were even accepting Paypal for this, hope they just had a personal account, I can't imagine paying Paypal fees too.

That is so funny that you mention that, I had to reply because I have a cousin who is an idiot... he has usually about 10-20 auctions up that he has a buy it now for 35-50 cents. I don't get it. They are for sports cards and he usually doesn't even get bids. He isn't trying to rack up feedback becuz he has about 100+, all from these low low priced auctions. He charges actual shipping. I don't get it. I don't dare say anything because it is just too funny. But what irks me is that at the last family gathering when someone was asking me how business is, he pipes up saying he is 'doing ebay' now to and tries to act like he is a big wig. I just ducked out of the conversation and went on about my day.
Who knows why people like to throw their time away. Too funny... but hey they are keeping ebay in business by paying the listing fees!

He's probably a coin collector. His present interest is quarters. When he gets around to filling out his nickel collection, the bidding on his auctions should really take off.

No, I think it is a divorce and he has to sell his collection and give her all the profit. Or maybe she's selling it for him!

A real life War of the Roses!

I can not imagine going through all it takes to make ...well, come out in the whole.

At least FVF's are only a penny! LOL!

I was selling some $3.00 items, listing fees, and FVF = 50 cents. I am thinking $2.50 it is not worth it. And I have 300 left to sell. Made my investment in selling 2 of them, that closed over $20 a piece. But you just do not know which ones the bidders want! If only I knew. I researched some...the 3 I thought would do great per completed items sold for $5-12. The two that sold high were not even in completed.

You got to love it!
