Anyone had this occur, that can tip me off to the outcome? I ordered a book, which lists a specific copyright year. This particular book is listed several times in various copyright years.

Received a copy yesterday. Right title, about 7 years difference in the copyright year. The UPC number is a correct match to the page.

I don't want this book. The values are substantially different. The seller has said she listed by UPC and her obligation is over.

Half states 30 days have to pass before attempting to file for this. According to their terms, if I chargeback through the credit card company, I can be suspended.

WELL, with about 50 books on preorder and about 200 listed, I'm not sure what to do.

Will Half allow the return, as the copyright year is different? I preordered a 1957 and received about 1965 (so its stated, but its MUCH later) reprint.

Hit the Report A Problem button under Your Purchases for this item, then explain the situation under the Quality Not As Expected category. I do not agree with this seller. He or she should have noted that this book was not the same year as the book listing. Yes, it is quite possible for it to have the same ISBN as an earlier or later edition, but it is the seller's responsibility to note this in the listing if that is the case.

Yes, a seller should check the info carefully and make a note about any differences, this happens everytime I list a group of books, at least one doesn't match the info they have (diff year, hb not pb etc...)

half.com often has incomplete info on the book, copyright is one date or dates may not be spelled out.
most sellers go for isbn when listing.
why not just enjoy the book and forget the value, next time dont buy it on 1/2.com,go to barnes and noble store where yu can see the copy.
half.com is what it is ,dont expect perfection

half.com's info seems to change from the listing pages to the buying pages. I remember putting up a paperback last month and when it sold last week, the email said that the buyer had purchased a hardcover.

And don't even bother trying to find the correct comic book trade paperback there...between inaccurate copyright years and the multitude of misinformation it is virtually impossible to find the book you want.

If you used a credit card, return the book insured and file for a chargeback.

If Half com threatened or does suspend you, contact you credit card company and provide documentation of the threat
/action. The CC company can use their muscle on Half com to force them to stop ridiculous threats. Threatening to bar a customer from the marketplace for exposing a fraud or misrepresentation is something that the CC companies won't abide by.

I got the reply from the seller and found the notice about the 30 day wait after hitting the report a problem button.

I really don't care for having to hold this book for 30 days, until Half will allow for a claim to be filed.

I've gotten a couple of canned responses from half about this.

Looks like I will do a chargeback on the credit card. So, should the book be sent back to the seller or to half?

Whoever you send it back to MAKE CERTAIN you have proof of delivery and/or insurance coverage. From what you have relayed about the seller's attitude, I would insure too.

Half. lives for the canned response. They also state right under the picture(if they have one) book may appear different than what is shown, so I think they wash their hands of this type of problem. Half.com is trying to sell cheap book not collectible. And yes their information has lots of mistakes.

Send the book back to the seller, not half.com. But, you only should do this after you have gotten a chargeback.

I disagree with this seller's attitude. She should have felt ashamed at her mistake and offered a refund through her seller's account for you. No big deal, she gets the book back, you get a refund. That is how it should be done.
