I listed this auction at Ebay on 8/2.(http://page.auctions.yahoo.com/auction/53949930) I contacted/emailed Ebay & Ebay charity 2 weeks & 4-5 times before I listed the auction with all the information about the charity and the auction details with when I was planning on listing it etc. I completed a 10 quesiton application for a charity auction at Ebay. I asked for permission & help to list it with Ebay charity auctions & for them to please advise me of any problems. The only response I got from Ebay was several automated emails that simply said they would contact me within 24-72 hours. I never heard from one support person before I listed the auction. I went to Ebay forums on 8/5 to discuss an Andale Problem I was having, and the auction disappeared within 1 hour after I posted a message there. I then received emails from Ebay support that my auction was cancelled because raffles are not allowed on Ebay etc. I asked for help with the auction 2 weeks prior to my listing the auction, but I was ignored. I did not wish to go against Ebay's policy, but I am not pleased with the way they handled the listing or with how I was ignored. I had 2 bids on the auction when they decided to close it, and I have no way of contacting the good members that bid to see if they wish to buy a ticket to help this family. I wanted other sellers/buyers opinion on this, so I hope you will Please look at the auction and let me know your thoughts.
Sincerely, Rose
First, my best wishes to the family and hopes that everything they need during these trying times is somehow given/provided/made available to them. How sad to lose one's home and business due to illness when obviously a liver transplant is not considered experimental or investigational. My rant is in regards to thriving insurance companies that deny folks such as those that must resort to these type of extreme measures to sustain life. Just sad.
Re: you auction. Yes, it is unreasonable and unfair that eBay did not bother to respond to your inquiries concerning this auction. Despite that concerning fact, your auction remains a raffle which is illegal in some states and against eBay policies. It doesn't surprise me they pulled your auction from its site.
I do not think the changing of any wording would effect whether ebay would allow this auction to continue,. No matter how you slice it, dice it, peel it or state it, it remains an auciton with nothing tangible going to any wining bidder except to the one person who manages to win the raffle (which may or may not be a winner from a different venue other than ebay!).
Again, the family is in my prayers. Such a lovely home for them to lose--but i am sure the life and person is so much more valuable than any piece of real estate.

Thats Ebay for you!!! Pretty neat auction though, Im going to talk to my husband and maybe place a bid, although I probably would just sell it back to them for $1(If I were to win).
I would try to contact Ebay by phone and see maybe if they would let this one slide. If not have you thought of just doing a realestate listing for it? With that story the bids may go higher then the $300,000 needed. Believe it or not a lot of very wealthy people buy on Ebay. Just a thought.

Thank you for your prays and posts on this auction and the families hardship. I appreciate the fact that Ebay has their rules. I did not wish to go against them. The Ebay Charity Platform is not clear to me, so I asked for help and assistance with the auction long before it was listed on Ebay. I just wish Ebay would have given me the STOP!! before I listed it and got two bids. I had another Ebay seller say they might just wait and cancel it just before my scheduled closing date which was 8/12. That would have really disappointed the family and I, to have so many more bids and then lose them cause Ebay waited till the last and closed it! Ebay has the rule you can't do "outside the auction sales" also, so many good hearted people would have no way of helping as they intended when they placed their bid. The auction number at Ebay was #1261206310. Another thing is to consider is: When a person goes out of their state to buy lotto tickets and they win, they get to keep the money they won. How would this be any different?? They buy a ticket at Ebay (they live in state that does not allow raffles), but they win and get the prize. I really do not see any difference, Do You??
Bless you, Rose

Hello, Rose
If you get to the point where you sell over 200 tickets contact me and I will buy one. I live far away and could not move there but I'm sure I could find a way for the owner to remain in their home should I win.
My father, too, was a victim of hepatitis at a young man in the military. I am lucky to still have him. Actually, I am lucky to be here - his hepatitis was BEFORE me

Thank you MrsSantaClaus/Becky,
As of today, over 200 tickets have already sold and that does not include the ones on yahoo. The family and I would appreciate your bid at anytime. The tickets went on sale in our area on 7/23/01. As Lucky as you are to be here after hepatitis, you have a good chance of winning
Bless You, Rose
