Hey, everyone! I am new to AuctionWatch. I got an email last night saying that I have been banned from ebay because I was "associated" with a previously suspended account. The only real association with this "suspended" account was that I had a transaction with him (no problems!). Also, this user was suspended over 2 months ago...so why is ebay just now suspending me? Does anyone have advice? I've heard horror stories about trying to contact ebay through email, and for the life of me I can't find a tech support number. NEVER have I caused a problem for ebay, let alone because of an association with someone else! Please help!

Perhaps something in this thread and the other threads it references will be of assistance.

I was part of the famous "caught in the net" event of a few years ago. Took me a full month to get back on - never did get a proper explanation about it...

Welcome to the eBay mentality. Little sellers don't count in their eyes.

Hello nanntique,
I'm sorry but I had to delete your post as I need to err on the side of caution with respect to privacy issues.
Thank you for your cooperation,

I think something is seriously wrong at eBay... I recived yesterday a warning from ebay about a policy violation on an auction....
Only problem, It wasn't my auction!

compucycle --- Well lets see, it was just after ebays longest crash ever - I believe they were down for a few days.
Many folks over on ebays DNF were grousing about the outage, (this came soon on the heals or ebays firearms ban too as I recall, which I and others were also still grousing about).
At any rate, I suspect the pinks at ebay were a bit shall we say "testy" at the time, and I suppose all these comments got to them - they went on a NARU rampage. 20, 30, 50, maybe even more folks got NARUd.
Slowly over the next several weeks, ebay began to reinstate their memberships. One ebay employ likend this mass NARUing to "fish caught in the net" or some such anology.
The official reason for MY NARU was "board disruption" When an ebay rep finely got around to calling me almost a month later. I asked him to referance any of my comments that in any way "disrupted" the board --- he could not.
I understand that this MASS NARU has gone down in the ebay history books, although I have never seen it mentioned anywhere myself...
I should have left ebay then and there, the whole cooperate mindset stinks like so many dead fish "caught in the net" - but the buyers and sellers I have met over the years, have all been fine and reputable folks who I have enjoyed dealing with.
So I stayed, but never did get any reasonable explanation for my NARUing...and I doubt if I will ever have any respect for ebay managment...
So it goes...

rustybore: I remember that, didn't they go down every sunday night for a few weeks around that time?
Seemed like a little mini vacation for me
That's when all the Pinks quit regularly posting on the message boards too wasn't it.

Obviously someone disgruntled reported you. Maybe it was a bidder who thought you were a shill bidder for the other account or some of your competition. Hopefully you have gotten your account back by now.
