Would some of you experts please suggest some books that I could buy that would help me identify glassware and pottery? Searching the web on this makes me crosseyed!

If you do know some sites that show the picture and identify it and is a handly research tool, I'd love to know those, too. Thanks!

I wish I had an easy answer for you. I am not an expert. I have spent thousands of dollars on specialized books and many of them help me identify patterns of glassware and everything else. But there are numerous types of glassware so it takes years of research and I would never begin to know it all. It helps if you already have knowledge of depression glass, carnival glass, pressed glass, etc.

You will find the same thing with pottery and porcelain. There is way too much for just a few books to cover it all.

For glass this is a good site to start with.

This is the best one I have found for pottery and porcelain.

This is my favorite search engine and I find amazing information fairly quickly.

I also check ebay constantly and learn lots from other auctions. Bottom line, it takes hours of research.

susan1232, Whatever books you decide on, nrver be afraid to spend the dollars needed to buy them, even if the price does seem high at the time.
One day who will find something that your book has helped you to recognise that will repay itself many times more than the book ever cost you.
Good information is priceless.

I agree, the books pay for themselves many times over just in being able to identify what you have.

If you go to www.glasscollectingbooks.com they are having a nice clearance sale on some really useful books right now.
