Good Morning all,
I just started selling on Ebay so plese forgive my question ahead of time, if it sounds very stupid.
I had a MAC but got rid of it and now have a modem I just listed on Ebay. I scanned the bottom of the modem that shows the model number and serial number. I saw someone else had an auction with the same type of modem and showed a foto of the bottom, so I did the same thing. I thought that is what I needed to do. ANYWAY, I got an email from someone stating that they cant read the model number or serial number of the modem in my listed foto and wanted to know what both were. I did provide the model number in the auction description I guess this person doesnt read much.
I can understand why someone would want the model number but why would someone want the serial number as well?
should I give this person the serial number when I respond to the email?

Someone might need to know a serial number if some production was either defective or if some is more upgraded or upgradeable.
They might be maintaining a bunch of modems and it is usually best to have similar numbers in case you keep some for parts. Manufacuturers sometimes switch suppliers for parts.
