Hi clothing sellers

I'm not going into the clothing business but I do have one nice item that I'd like to try to sell. It's a pair of Tundra men's shorts (short pants, not underwear!) and they are fairly expensive looking, well made, with tags, etc...something the well-dressed man would wear for golfing or whatever. Of course they haven't ever been washed or worn.

They are 100% cotton. Can I safely spray this item with Fabreeze to insure it smells fresh when shipped? They have been stored for a while.

Thanks

Hi Loosecannon:

I use Febreeze in my house all the time, I love that stuff!

But... as far as spraying clothing to be shipped, I just wouldn't do it. I understand wanting the clothing to smell "fresh", but I've read many other posts on this board where others think the smell of Febreeze is awful. Some are allergic to scents like that. When it's sprayed onto a garment and then placed in a box/envelope for days with no air, when the other person opens the package, it may just knock them out You never know how the other person will react towards it.

Personally, I would vote against doing that.

Hi,

Spray with Febreeze and hang outside for an hour or so. The Febreeze won't be as strong, but they'll still smell nice.

I like the idea of just hanging them outside for a little while to freshen them. Febreeze gives me huge headaches. Do they need to be cleaned?

LC-I just had another thought. I buy the bargain basement brand of Febreeze at the Dollar Store for $1! It still smells nice, but not half as strong.

PLEASE do not spray with Febreeze.
If I knew a seller sprayed their item up for auction with it, I wouldn't bother bidding. Febreeze and scented dryer sheets give me massive migraines. That residual "little tiny scent" many of you perceive is like a ton of bricks to someone like me with allergies. It is NOT a nice scent to us.

I have opened up a nice blouse I was eager to get and it had been sealed up at some point with a scented dryrer sheet. I washed it in soft water, which usually will remove residues. No dice. It remained scented for 6 or more wearings and washings. I felt like I was wearing cheap perfume, and it gave me headaches.

I find items from a home where the seller smokes equally offensive, and difficult to remove the odor from, altough it does not give me headaches.

My $.02.

Hello, thanks for your replies!

No, they don't look dirty at all, I just wanted them to be fresh if I am able to sell them. You know that "new clothes smell". I got them at a garage sale.

I like the idea of hanging them outside and letting nature do the job.

If they weren't size 42 I would be keeping them. I'm not that big--yet--give me another year or two.
