Hi,

I sent an email to safe harbor last week, with the header, and the trailer (It was sent through ebay's send an email system) and it was sent back to me asking for the full header. I sent it back telling that the full header was there. They again sent it back asking for the header so they could tell where it came from. Do they want the routing information? I live with a computer consultant and when I showed him the return yesterday he said the header was there send it back & point it out to them. I called him at work this morning and read their response [The header serves as our proof of the emails' path and allows us to fully identify the sender] and he said it sounds like they want the routing information. (Maybe this is splitting hairs, but that is life with a consultant..even though he knows what you are saying, he plays dumb until you use the correct words).

My next question is, anybody know how to pull up the Full Headers or Routing Information in outlook?

Not sure about outlook, but with Netscape you simply click on View, then Headers, then All.

Yeah, when I click on view headers, it gives me the senders name and email info and the date & subject. Which is what I sent to ebay.

Nope, that's not what eBay needs. They need the complete path. Perhaps an OE user can help?

In OE, highlight the email, go to Files > Properties, click on details and then Message Source. Copy the entire contents in the box, and paste it in an email.

Outlook 2000
Open email then click view at top and then choose options. Copy and paste all this info at top of forwarded email to safe harbor. If you don't see "options" hold cursor over bottom of open box and complete list will then appear.

Well, I did finally find it. Thanks alot guys, I appreciate the help! I do regret that I ever sent this to safeharbor to begin with.

I guess that, even though it went through ebay's email system, they have no access to this information, or would that be too much to ask?

The header is needed to concisely identify the sender. While it can be forged (or made up), very few complainers to safeharbor are malicious. Far more complainers are likely mistaken in their belief, and examination of the headers either confirms or contradicts their complaint.

This system seems to work fairly well, the hardest part of it is your problem, namely lots of people don't know what headers are nor how to get them.

Email systems like eBay's can and likely do keep some record of traffic, but examination of that record is likely a tedious process done by a system administrator, not safeharbor staff.
