... had a buyer ask some questions in French.

I need a good site that can handle a paragraph at a time.. not a single word.

Can anyone help?

We haven't found anything better than Altavista's Babelfish.

Because it does translate word for word, sometimes what you write doesn't translate, so what I have done in the past when responding is to type my sentence as simply as possible, then translate into French, then translate the French into English, so I can see what I said. It has worked for several successful purchases in the past, though it likely sounds like broken French.

Of course, if the translator doesn't make clear what the writer is trying to say, you're better off finding a human translator.
