I went to this second hand store to buy stuff to sell on ebay. This old lady had oodles of dishes that had a name on the bottom that started with an "n" and had made in Japan under the name. I had remembered the name until after I got home, wish I had something to write it down with at the time. Anyone know anything about them and if they might be worth something? Anyone might know the name so I don't have to drive back out there to find out?? lol I had seen the name mentioned before here, so was just wondering.

Noritake
that's the name on the dishes. She has a whole bunch of them and wanted $5 for the whole lot of them. They were all in great shape except one that had a little chip in it. Are they worth anything??

All "Noritake" is marked with either a wreath, or a cartouche, with the word Noritake inside it (after 1953)...Prior to that, the mark was an "M", for "Morimura", whithin a green or red or purple wreath.
The "N" could stand for "Nagoya", a place in Japan where much china was produced.
If you could post a picture, including the underside to show the exact mark, that would be helpful.

Unless you have a complete set, the pieces you purchased might only appeal to someone who is missing some pieces in that pattern.
Of course, it depends on the Pattern:.. "Azalea" always brings good money, so does "White and Gold", a simple...well...gold pattern over white porcelain.
"Tree in the meadow" is also popular, but I do not recall any complete sets in that pattern: mostly individual serving pieces...
