Since new fees, we've been listing -pure vanilla as they say... no gallery, feature, reserve, just the .30 cents...
Been doing quite well...
Plus, we've begun listing on other sites like bargainandhaggle same item for a fill in...
Any thoughts on the vanilla and other experiences... thanks

I have pretty much given up on posting on other small sites not worth the effort.
But I have always only posted the plain no frills auctions on ebay and done very well the only thing I find worth paying for is the extra dime for 10 day listings.
I think thats why ebay made there stores so low cost you only get in the search if you use one of there extra features.
only a nickle to list an item for 30 days in the store front but $19.00 to get in to Ebay search....

I've never used all those extra features. Didn't ever get convinced they were worth the money.
I've often wondered about those sellers who pay for gallery, feature, bold and all that stuff to run a $4.95 auction. Is there something I'm missing in the logic of doing this?

I wasn't aware of this - when was this announced?
I did notice that ebay stores were showing up in completed auction search ... ?

I'm talking about the $19.00 to feature your auction you can feature your store item's the same as you can your auction.
its always been this way, when you uses any of the extra features on your store Item they will show up in the ebay search..
if you feature for $19.00 your item will be featured in the category and search..
ALso if you Choose to advertise and promote you ebay store URL all your auctions are listed first in your store front..
here is another tip about store fronts if your Item sells in your store front you pay FVF but your listing fee is refunded.
Ebay stores dont look like much to some right now but if promoted and advertised right at $9.95 a month they are going to be a great deal for all not only low cost to list fixed priced items but also connected directly to all your auction listings.

dman - you are talking about an ebay store search - right? I was not aware that active ebay store listings were showing up in the normal auction search.
I read your post to mean that if I paid $19.95 then my store listings would be indexed in the auction search.

for $19.95 your store Item will show up in category feature with the auctions!!!!
yes the store search not the auction search I dont think this policy will change I think they want the stores to make it on there own merits.
The Idea is to get store fronts to advertise for them selves, thing is with all the big companies putting in store fronts this will help bring in buyers for all.

Now I'm confused...although, from just reviewing the stores... they appear limited and our little informal surveys don't indicate buyers are paying attention...
Dman - what are you referring to in attracting customers?
thanks

I used to use the gallery, but gave that up - I didn't see any significant jump in sales, and then it got more expensive anyway. Occasionally I put an item in a feature section if I think its worth over $400.00, but then I made a mistake once and listed two items in the feature section that I expected to get about $20.00 a piece for... (I forgot to unclick the box) OUCH!

For two-bits, the Gallery is still a good tool, and I will continue using it. For customers looking for specific items in specific categories, by specific makers, (often more pricey merchandise), it works well.
But actually, the "View Seller's Other Listings" is sufficient in most cases.

Any bets how long before they make THAT a feature the lister has to pay for to have active? Or to meter out at a per-use charge?
Don't shout and wave it about...

I agree with Shosh, for "some" items it's well worth the extra fee. I also use the bold feature for some of my higher priced items. The featured at $19.99 is a bit too much IMO. $9.99 I could live with, for $19.99 the item needs to be well over the $500 mark.

Well hello there Shoshanah. How have you been?
I've never really used the extra features. One time only did I try gallery. So I don't really know if it helps a lot. But I suspect it doesn't help much.
All I really know is I get my listings cheaper with no frills.

I like the Gallery, and use it on almost everything. I think it's even doubled it's usefulness, now that it's the default on category listings...at least for antiques and collectibles. I figure if I'm drawn to those items when searching...others will be, too.

I agree with what toke said. With so many listings to wade through now I prefer to go through gallery listings only in categories like pottery and glass, collectibles, dolls or jewelry as I may not be looking for any specific item or manufacturer. It is a fast and fun way to search.
I then click on the seller's other auctions. I think sellers should put at least one or two of their best items in the gallery each time they list.

Never did anything but plain list and not even pix. While I suspect some items could use a little polish, buyers who want something bid regardless.
