I am interested in other sellers' opinions regarding E-Bay "Featured Plus" Option. Do you think that this really buys more visibility for the item?

It does seem that we receive more hits. We try to use "featured plus" when items are over $500, but this is more expensive at $19.99 per auction. Do you think that buyers are looking at "featured items" in a catagory or doing specific searches to find an item?

In the 3 years I have been on eBay, I have never specifically searched Featured auctions. However, Featured Plus is a great feature, as it gets your listing at the top of the search page, so it is one of the firsts that the bidder sees.

The only problem with this is if the bidder sees your item, then decides to search for a cheaper one, and forgets about yours...

I've run Featured-in-Category auctions several times, and you do get a LOT more hits on them than a regular auction.

If you sell a number of related items, I found it very helpful to encourage people to visit your other auctions too. Let the featured auction "pull" your other auctions.

Overall, I was happy with the results each time, both on the featured auctions themselves and the additional hits my regular auctions received because of it.

That said, I got a LOT of deadbeat bidders, too. All my featured auctions were Dutch, and it was a pain having to wait to file NPB/FVF on the people who didn't pay.

I did my first featured auction recently, single category, (reserve) and, yes, it did get a huge amount of hits.

Relisted same auction. Highlighted this time, not featured. 2 categories, reserve.

Almost the same amount of hits !

I shall never know, absolutely, whether the main attraction, first-time, was the constant, and expensive, category exposure...or serious collectors, (or scouts) who routinely punch in the consistent keyword;
or
That (second time), Category-Browsers, utilising the regular Gallery feature, spotted it through less-prominent visual assault; and more through cross-category options?

(This thread ties in a bit with Gallery and Sub-category threads running at present.

Appears to me that the
"where" ?
and
"in what"?
to place one's things is becoming increasingly obfuscated at present?

I have tried listing in two catagories, and did find that it brought a bit more traffic but not as much as "Featured Plus."

It is interesting that one seller had a few more deadbeat buyers too. I think that when people are looking at featured items are mostly looky-lous and that is the reason for the higher number of hits perhaps. I think the serious buyers do searches on specific items. Most likely it is still a "hit or miss" thing and it depends if the right person views your item or not.

I sell an item and will list it on dutch auction for 8 of them. On the regular auctions, I usually sell 1-2. It's a $24 item. When I used the Feature Plus, I've sold as many as 44 in one auction, so it definitely works.

I figured I had to sell 4 to break even on the cost of the ad...
