Is there such a thing as Book Rate anymore? I'd like to know how much a 8 x 11" book, hard cover, 200 pages, would cost to ship (approx.). Does $6.00 seem right?

Hey, kraftdinner:
Book rate is now known as Media Mail and it definitely still exists! It is based on weight, not zip code, so if your book is 1 pound or less, shipping media mail is $1.33, between 1 and 2 pounds, it would be $1.78, between 2 to 3 pounds I believe is $2.23.
In my opinion, $6.00 is a little high because even with packing I doubt this would weigh close to three pounds, but that's just me! I would weigh it and add a small amount for packing materials (usually for hardcovers I charge $2.25).

I have been selling lots of books lately and unless the book is super small or light I charge $2.50. $6 is very high. Hope the seller comes down on that.

Hi Ashland! .....Well, if you ever run across any interior decorating/design books from the 40's and 50's, please let me know.....I like your shipping prices better!!

Actually $6.00 is really not that high. With a box and padding, the real shipping cost is roughly $3.00. I'm not sure where the other $3.00 might come in, but I see $5.00 shipping charges on all sorts of books from many online booksellers.
Only heavy books should be $5.00, but keep in mind that it isn't the shipping but the total price you pay for book that counts. If it's still a good deal that's what counts.
