What I'm still trying to figure out is why bills from my creditors get to me at the same speed as Priority or Express mail yet checks from my customers take 12 days to travel 200 miles.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

sparkz: I may be able to answer that question. A few years ago this was the sorting proceedure and I imagine it remains the same now. The postal sorting equipment gives priority to envelopes with the clear plastic windows. The equipment senses the windows and those items are sorted for priority handling ahead of standard envelopes and flats. Since most bills come by way of windowed envelopes then that would explain why your bills arrive in record time.

I actually had a cc bill show up two months late one time. I didn't notice I hadn't paid say April's until I got May's and there was a late charge. I called the cc company and told them I never got April's bill. They removed the charge (I'm anal - I've never paid a cc bill late in like 25 years or something, so they believed me). Anyway, in June, I receive both June's and April's bill. April's looked like it had been around the world and stepped on in each country. Long live the US Postal Service!
