A buyer left me a neg. feedback before contacting me, he is sorry that he
did it because he was upset at the time, he said. The question I have is:

Under what conditions when leaving feedback, would be considered wrong
according to Ebay Rules, because I read somewhere in one of the threads, that if you say certain things when leaving feedback., Ebay will take both feedback's away. Does anyone know what you would have to say for that to happen.

My buyer tried to remove the feedback but couldn't, and he feels bad about what he did.

I didn't leave him feedback yet,

I think there's a place called "Square Trade" or something along those lines that will remove negative feedback for $15.00 each.

And here I thought Negative Feedback Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry!

Hey
Where is MrBusinessman?
Did you change nicks?
He has a great method.
It works. A friend of mine tried it after
I'd explained it...of course he no longer
leaves feedback after the realiatory fiasco.
But anyhow...

From http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/fbremove.html I cut and pasted this info:

"Circumstances Where eBay Will Consider Removing Feedback

eBay is provided with a valid court order finding that the disputed feedback is slanderous, libelous, defamatory or otherwise illegal, or with a settlement agreement resolving such a lawsuit submitted by both attorneys and signed by both parties. eBay will also accept a ruling from a certified dispute resolution service if a signed settlement agreement, overseen by the certified dispute resolution service, is provided to eBay.

The feedback, on its face, has absolutely no connection with eBay, such as personal comments about users, or feedback related to commercial transactions that were not conducted through eBay. This includes feedback that contains any reference to another auction service, or feedback that advertises the goods or services of someone other than the user for whom the feedback was left.

The feedback that contains any link to another page, picture, or JavaScript.

The feedback contains profane or vulgar language, or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as "fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc. is strongly discouraged but will not be removed.

Feedback that contains personal identifying information about a user, including real name, address, phone number, or e-mail address.

Feedback that makes any reference to an eBay or law enforcement organization investigation, i.e., "eBay is investigating this person".

Feedback intended for another user will be considered for removal only in situations where the user responsible for the mistaken posting informs eBay of the error and has already placed the same feedback for the correct user.

Feedback left by a user who provided eBay with false contact information during the registration process, and cannot be contacted. eBay will also remove feedback where eBay is provided with evidence showing that it was left by a minor.

Multiple (3 or more) feedbacks left by the same user as part of a campaign to harass one or more users.

eBay may give special consideration to remove feedback upon request from members if the listing ended before the member was suspended, but the feedback was left after we reinstated the member."

The one and only time that a user neged me I got it removed using the "user who provided eBay with false contact information" reason above as I provided evidence the user provided a bogus phone # and I was unable to contact him.

Thank you haoleboy

I took your advise and started a case with Square Trade, I read all the info you gave me and I do appriciate all your help
and the link, I didn't know about Square Trade. This was my first situation like this one.

I will need to wait and see what they decide.

Thanks again,

This is an update of what has happened.
I had offered my buyer a refund, then when I went to my FB I saw he had neg me before he contacted me. He responded to my email by saying, I will keep
the.xxxxxx, and we will call it a learning experience for the both of us.

He also said, He tried to take the neg. feedback off but he couldn't do it.
I said to him, I was going to square trade and explain what had happened
and when they email him, that he should tell them why he left me a neg. and now wanted to remove it.
Well, he emailed me saying, he told square trade that if I return his money plus the money for return shipping, he will ask them to remove my neg feedback.
So now he turned it all around for his benefit.
My question is, should I just go and leave him a Neg. and be happy with my neg. since he never tried to contact me before he gave me a neg. because I was willing to return all money plus shipping back to me.
Any advice before I answer his email?

I found a 'new'?? feature the other day after a chick wrote me a bad check for three items.. don't know if this will help you or not??

I, of course, upon mailing items, left pos feedback for each auction. Then, of course, about 3 days later her check bounced. I've waited 2 weeks with no payment and no further response from her, and anyway, now find she's NARU'd. BUT, I see a comment from another seller saying 'great ebayer'.. then with a FOLLOW UP saying 'bad check, won't make good'. Hmmmm. So, I go to the feedback forum and selected 'respond and post follow up'.. and am able to leave follow up on all feedbacks I already left her which properly negate the pos I left her.

This, even though she's already not registered any longer. Way cool. Not that she can deal on Ebay anymore under this ID anyway, but man, it just felt good to be able to do!

So, the point of my story.. oh yeah Why can't the guy go in and leave you a follow up response?

tonimar - I've read (here at AW) that if you put your e-mail addy or other identifying info in your response Ebay will remove it. Never tried it myself though.

I've been there!

Yes, if he has the item and you have the
money and he refuses to help remove the
negative he left you then I would leave him
a negative as payback and get on with life.
Good luck to you!
