Well they are at it again.
USPS was caught selling fake oakleys 3 times and they were still allowed to sell...no suspension...I just nailed them again selling fake Gucci Sunglasses and yet agian they still are not suspended...Ebay;s double Standards suck!!!
Thank you for notifying us about these counterfeit Gucci products being
sold on e-Bay. Gucci does not authorize the sale of it's products or name
on the internet by unauthorized re-sellers. If you wish to be confident in
buying genuine Gucci products I recommend that you shop at either a Gucci
store, or a reputable luxury department store.
We are carefully monitoring any infringers. Any Internet related actions
taken without our authorization may result in legal action.
I am truly sorry that you were led to believe that these were genuine Gucci
products. If you see any other Gucci products being sold on e-Bay, please
take caution.
Once again, thank you for your concern.
Sincerely,

Maybe this is not the right way to look at it, but it still rubs me the wrong way that the USPS is selling lost goods on ebay.
The PO makes money on us eBay sellers being in business (I'm pretty sure I give the Post Office in my small town more business than anyone else here does), then they collect all of this stuff that they've already gotten paid to deliver (yes, I know that the packages lose the address or it otherwise can't be delivered) and then turn around and compete with me and you for sales.
They ought to hold public auctions on this stuff instead of selling it on ebay. We're paying tax dollars to the Gov't for Postal employees to be listing auctions? Come on.

Not to take the "Bad Guys" side, but ois it possible that USPS has asked for rights to sell Oakley, Gucci, etal. from the owners of said rights?
Just a thought...

Does USPS use UPS to ship auction items?

Any small seller would have been permanently banned from eBay after being caught selling fakes 3 times.
Part of the reason big outfits escape liability is that they are BIG. They can blame "oversights" on this department or that, or on an employee. The mind set is 'why punish the whole organization for a mistake made by a part of it'. Of course, the other reason is that eBay will not forgo the revenue from suspending such a large customer.
What small sellers need to do is act like a large corporation. If eBay sends you a TOS warning, reply that you have forwarded the email to the department responsible for that function.

I bought a lot of videos from them, and in the lot was a couple Hannibal videos, illegal of course since the video was not released when I got the lot.

Instead of notifying eBay, call the Postal Inspection Service. That would be really interesting since the USPS is shipping illegal goods through the US mails.

Great idea!
Lowprofile, did you write eBay and ask them to explain how USPS can continually violate the rules and not be suspended?

Someone who is brave enough should run duplicate auctions of the USPS violations, get suspended and then ask eBay to attempt to explain the contradiction.

If it happens again contact the makers of the real item and let them handle it. That's what the VERO program is for.

This kinda reminds me of a bumper sticker I once saw:
Don't Steal. The Goverment doesn't like competiton.
After all, the USPS is a Goverment Entity...much like Amtrak...

I guess I'd like to write eBay and ask them "what incentive does USPS have to not sell fakes, since they cannot be suspended for doing so?"
