Just walked in and caught it. Talking about Billpoint. Gotta go now ...

Q: How do you get people to stop trading off of eBay?

A: Not easily. We did it because it was the #1 complaint of buyers. They complained about the spam. Also, people wanted to collect the $200 insurance on transactions that went bad when bought off of eBay.

Wish I would have caught more of it ...

Becky

Caught the last few seconds. Thanks for the heads up.

When I turned it on, the first thing I heard was a big fat lie. She said that ebay changed the policy of making the e-mail address available to anybody, to not making it available except for the highest bidder to the seller, to "protect" the community. Otherwise, she said, how can we offer our $200 of insurance protection if the trades occur off ebay?

Well, Meg, instead of looking like an idiot liar, why not just admit that ebay changed the policy to prevent people from trading off ebay because of the lost fees.

The interview will be repeated at 11:20.

"We did it because it was the #1 complaint of buyers. They complained about the spam."

Huh?

BTW she is not an idiot liar, she is a clever liar. She knows 98% of the TV listeners have no familiarity with ebay whatever.

Paying by check or money order is positively neanderthal.

Huh?

It's "neanderthal" because eBay doesn't get a percentage fee from Checks and MO.

Watch her hand movements- the ways she uses her hands to talk are typical of people who are extremely controling and refuse to surrender authority.

Her palms always remain pointed back at her except her left hand which the palm points away but TOWARDS the palm of her right hand.

Meg thinks off site sales may be as high 50% of legitimate sales.

Meg said "eBay was built by Missionaries not Mercenaries”
This would explain why all assume the position once a month
when we get our Credit Card statement ......

YES I SAW IT!!!!!!!!! I called my hubby into the room and told him that most ebayers just hate her! Besides, you'd think she'd do some searches on ebay for some Clinique makeup or something! Didn't she look awful!!

I watched 10 minutes and then changed the channel. Everything I heard her say was just "Blah...Blah...Blah...Blah....etc."

Well, regardless of what you think of her wrt to eBay, she does deserve out respect nonetheless. Not many females complete Princeton Economics, Harvard MBA, and then go on to be a titan of industry, and only at age 44.

She is a positive role model, and a much better CEO than some of these dotcom kids who wouldn't know how to manage a McDonalds. Certainly, her presence has helped eBay more than it has hurt.

I *do* agree, however, that she would have benefitted from an seeing an image consultant before appearing on television!!
