I am looking for a software program to automatically print out Avery labels 80 per page (#5257 - 1/2" x 1 3/4" with 6 to 8 digit sequential numbers. I currently manually enter the numbers into a word document with Word's label template. This is long, tedious and often mistake ridden. Thanks in advance for any advice or web addresses.

sorry - I have no idea. It's been about 2 years, so maybe it's not even out there anymore. but it would do sequential numbering...you just had to tell it what to start with, and how many digits (01, 001, 0001, etc.) to have in the numbers.

Have you try something simple like Excel or Lotus? You can have blank columns and rows to help layout the printing onto the labels. You just need a simple formula to bump up the sequence of numbers for each label. For each page, you simply change the starting number and that should do it.
Programmatically, it is easy to do it with a variety of software. But, cost wise to program it would not make sense unless you are planning to do thousands of labels.

My kid can write a program to do this in under an hour in foxpro, basic, vb, you name it. From a programming aspect, it's trivial. If I had some sample labels or exact label dimensions, I could knock it off.

yisgood ..
I know it must be simple and I feel like a jerk asking about this simple thing.
The avery return address label is 5267 4 labels across and 20 down on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. Each sheet measures 1/2" x 1 3/4". A view of this label is in Word under labels, which I use to manually make them. I can use word, my favorite or Excel. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Sorry if I made you feel like a jerk, that was not my intention. I meant that it was simple for a programmer. It's like when I call a repairman and he fixes something in a minute that I struggled with for hours. Each one of us has our areas of expertise. Anyway, I found the layout in foxpro so I knocked off a program that appears to work but without the actual labels, I can't really be sure. You can download these two files http:\\www.ygoodman.com\download\fox.zip (the library file needed for foxpro) and http:\\www.ygoodman.com\download\numb.zip (the program and source code). Unzip both files into the same directory. To run it enter NUMB<enter> or (make an icon for it) and enter the starting number and number of labels. It is set to default to the printer but you can send it to the screen first to check and then to the printer. If the size or layout doesnt work, email me and I'll fix it. I may need you to send me some labels.
