I've heard that these are necessary if one ever plans to buy from wholesalers and the like. This could be something that
varies from state to state. If so, could someone at least point me in the right direction.

If anyone has a Tax ID #,
how much approximately did it cost for you to get one? (I know this may also vary)

Finally, how long did the process take?

Thank you.

Well it varies from state to state. Once we had all the necessary arrangements for our business, we live in the same city as one of the offices. We simply walked in, filled out the form and paid I believe it was a $5 fee. They entered us in the computer and type up our tax ID #. Was not very hard at all. We live in the sate of Florida, but reside in a state of confusion the rest of the time. If you need help drop us an email. [email protected]

Hope this helps

I printed out the necessary forms for my state online and mailed them in. Cost: 1 stamp. It took several weeks to get the number.

In Georgia, it's the state Department of Revenue that governs tax ID #s.

If you tell us which state you're in, I'll bet someone will come along with some specific advice.

In Massachusetts it's alos the state Dept of Revenue.
No charge.
You can file on line or by mail.
File online and you get an immediate temp certificate, the permanent one takes 3 months to be mailed to you.

Call your state dept of revenue.

even if you're cleared by the state you still have to get a tax ID for certain businesses that you buy at. They have to have that nummber, and it's only good for that certain company.

In Wisconsin, call Madison and ask for tax dept. $10 will get you a tax number forever. They told someone I know that if you are on Ebay you will not have to pay sales tax because you are not selling in Wis!!! You need it to buy.
