Hey everyone,

It is that time of the week again when we go out and find lots of cool stuff and then come back here and entertain each other with our great bargain stories.

DH and I went out this morning yardsaling. Bought four brand new (w/ original plastic overwrap) cans of compressed air for cleaning electronics. $1 per can.

Then, he got a Lexmark printer for $25. Works but is out of ink. Oh well.

Then, I had my most wonderful find of the season. A set of four brown McCoy kitchen canisters for $10 altogether. Now, I have to figure out what style they are. Can anyone advise me of a website that will help me figure out what I need to know to sell these knowledgeably? Thanks in advance for any advice.

That was the end of our shopping excursion.

Now, let's get this thread going! Please share the stories of the goodies you have found!

Can you take pics of the McCoy canisters and post it here?

What do they look like? Are they mirror drip brown?

What's on the bottom? Any numbers?

Found nothing here.

OK, here we go. My first time trying to post pictures here:

The one on the far left says "133" on the bottom.

The second one from the left says "13 ". (The space after the 3 means that the pottery material was smudged before firing such that the # cannot be read.)

The last two say "135" on the bottom.

The order of the markings is the same on all except for the second one from the left. On that one, the markings are written in a circle on the bottom of the canister.

In the very last one on the right, the lady said that a piece (about two inches long) had broken off the edge of the top so she superglued it back. It looks pretty good, but it is obvious upon close inspection.

Also, there are a few chips and some hairline cracks here and there.

What do y'all think? Oh well, if they aren't worth much, I'll probably just keep them for myself. But, thanks for looking.

No one will pay anything for McCoy with chips or cracks and the brown drip stuff you got is not worth a lot anyway.

My finds this week included a victorian shadow box for $10 and an Eisenberg necklace for $1.00. And I only stopped at two sales.

I used to have stuff with McCoy written on bottom like that. I threw them away because they were so ugly.

I've been moving this weekend, no time for yardsales.

Hello all:

I usually don't post, just lurk, but I couldn't resist. I got a Weiss rhinestone earrings, bracelet and necklace set in excellent condition for $1.00.

That was my biggest find for the day.

jadejim and pobo,

Thanks for your frank opinions. You've just saved me some time from even listing them. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

My favorite thing this week was a very kitschy Hawaiian themed relish dish. Not just a relish dish, but the ugliest two-tiered wood lazy susan type I've ever seen. At the very top is a place for a wood pineapple that at first glance looks like it has leaves, but the leaves are actually little forks for stabbing the various relishes.

I also ended up with a ton of comic books which I know nothing about. I got them for about a penny a piece, so I figure even if I have to sell them in large lots, the experiment and learning were worth it.

A clarinet, a saddle (needs a bit of work so I haven't decided whether to fix it or turn it into a footstool).

And of course, books.

I found a 13" Scootles composition doll from around 1925. Scootles apparently was the friend of Kewpie.

Anyway... she was in the bottom of a box and I pulled her out. Her legs and head are not attached, but she is complete, (I have the limbs, they're just not attached)... so aside from that she's in pretty good shape.

Paid $5.00 for her... she's sittin' at $103.00 right now. (who woulda thunk it!)

I'll post my find tomorrow as I have 3 flea markets to go to early tomorrow morning. But last week, I found a shop that had a close out sale on the "Cat's Meow" Village pieces and found the Santa Fe series complete train set in it's boxes and also the retired "General" train set series in their box for $3.00 each.....bought all they had which was 6 sets.....these originally sold for $47.00 and they are on ebay now........will close tomorrow night. The General is at $50.00 now and the Santa Fe is at $31.99......so I am tickled with that investment........Going back over on Tuesday as she is getting more out at great discount prices.......individual pieces are being sold at .50 each and they normally sell for $8.00-19.99 normally. I'll post my newest find tomorrow night.

The mirror brown drip McCoy may be worth listing. I've never seen a complete canister set before, however, keep in mind the chips and repairs aren't conducive to great sales.

I think you may be able to get your money back though as there are alot of mirror brown drip collectors. I checked completed auctions and didn't find your set there.

Just picked up the contents of an electronics/stereo repair shop, in business for over 40 years.

The owners retired, but let a nephew take everything out he considered to be of value. We agreed to take what was left - we took a load to the dumpster, and were left with roughly 3,000 service manuals for vintage stereo equipment dating back to 1961.

Cost was zero, altho paulg was kind enough to load all this stuff up and had to sweat a little. Serious Happy Dance!!!

Manuals can be good. I found a bunch for motorcycles and stuff like that. Bought over 200 of them.

It's been raining HARD here all day 4" so most of the yard sales were called off.

I did find an old 5 arm black cast chandelier with a pretty grape & leaf design for $8. I think painted white & highlighted with gold it should do pretty good.

1970's mushroom recipe box .25

Set of old porcelain knobs marked hot & cold for .25

Gold hanging entry light with 6 cut glass panels and 3 "candles" hanging down in the center. Measures 24" tall for $3.50
