This is my third summer selling on eBay.
Getting bids in August has been like pulling teeth. This has possibly been the only consistant trend I have noticed. Do any full time sellers take time off, not have auctions running? Do you have to rebuild momentum or do things just pick up again when you return? I hope to be able to spend next August buying rather than crying.

Last August wasn't great but this one is good. I think I'm selling about 90% of what I list right now and much of it has multiple bids. Also sold a bunch with BIN.
I think I've just about listed my last for August closings though. I'm going to list some 10 day auctions today and tomorrow for early September.
I think it depends on what you sell. I auctioned off only one piece of clothing this year and it closed last week with one bid and the guy is going to be a deadbeat. So, I'm at 100% deadbeats for clothing. I'm glad I don't sell clothing for a living.

My first summer on ebay (1998) was slow, as was 1999 and 2000. BUT, this summer has been great! I have had sales in June, July and August that match the Nov-Feb periods (which have been the best times of the year for me since I began). I'm thinking...if this summer was so good, I wonder if that is pointing to a STELLER holiday-post holiday season.
