I have been surfing ebay and have noticed a trend that is getting WAY out of hand. Outrageous shipping fees. A 2 pound tapestry will cost 65 bucks to ship? A 10 lbs decorator carpet runner is 85? Are these people STUPID? Or are they relying on the bidders to not read the SMALL PRINT? And whats with the bidders who actually bid on the stuff? Dont they READ? I could see it if it weighed alot, or was oversized, or bubble wrap/peanuts had to be used...but a TAPESTRY?

I once contacted a seller from England, to check on estimated shipping cost, before placing a bid. Item: $65.00 a few hours before ending; shipping quote 85.00! Someone must have told her big shipping cost from England..Wow! looks more business-like and impressive...
Guess who did NOT bid...BTW: this was a small (about 8", and 2 lbs, per her listing) glass vase

Shosh, what I found to be the most common thing was the low starting bid and the disgusting shipping fees in teeny tiny print.

Or, they know how to compute very well and just want to make sure they get their asking price and call it "handling" or "shipping".

Personally, I place the Online Postal Quote right in my listing, together with a link to that site...It is so easy to make this clear!...But many such as hepburn mentions, are motivated by greed. Too bad...They end up losing in the long run.

Eventer, no they werent newbies. They were power sellers! My jaw dropped many times to where my keyboard had permanent indentations on the BNM letters, lol. And guess what? People are bidding on their stuff! It doesnt amaze me anymore, but now that I know which sellers have those shipping fees in the categories I am surfing in, I back out quickly.
edited to add that the MAJORITY were powersellers, but not all. However, 95% of them that werent, had fb of over 500.
