I have a 1946 paperback, Pocket Book 1st edition, of "Cluny Brown." The cover picture, in full color, is really charming--a 1940s gal with 40's hairdo and dress, even wearing a (net) snood on her hair.

I think the cover will sell this book, which is in fair to good condition, for display purposes in a vintage collection.

I just can't decide where to list this for maximum exposure. Any ideas? The Home category doesn't have vintage eras. The Antiquarian and Rare Books section doesn't seem quite right, since it's the cover picture that is the best thing about this book.

As it is a 1946 edition, that girl on the cover may well be Jennifer Jones, who starred in the film version, which was released in 1946. Can you post an image here?

If so, be sure to put her name in the title field as well as the description.

Bunnicula: I suppose it could be representing Jennifer Jones. It's a painting, a rather generic picture of a young woman with black hair (did JJ have black hair?). The movie is mentioned on the back cover, and one of my thoughts was to put it in the vintage movie section and to mention Boyer and Jones.

Can't post a picture right now--maybe later.

Off the subject, sort of: I wish ebay had sections for 30s, 40s, 50s, decor!

Thanks for your help!

I suggest listing in the Vintage Paperbacks section of books, and also at the same time in the Movies Collectibles area.

Since I sell mostly vintage clothing on ebay ~ when I have something like this ~ in title I would put also ~ display with vintage clothing or vintage clothing display or just vintage clothing. Or put ~ 1940's or 40's also. A lot of woman like that era and search that way !!
Just make sure to put VINTAGE in title, that way it will show up on a search for vintage clothing! I just bought a book this weeeknd called ~The Flapper Wife ~ and bought it for the cover since there is a beautiful flapper dressed woman. I bought it to display with vintage clothing when I take pictures of that era of clothing

Good Luck,

Enchanted:

Thanks for your advice. I must be braindead, or having a senior moment?, but I cannot find a category called "Vintage Paperbacks." Am I just blind? Can you steer me to it? Thanks!

I've just finished researching this as I have nearly 400 of these old paperbacks that I am going to list next week.
List under paperbacks { go to books and click on all books categories - bottom right of the categories box - has a red arrow by it. }
Key words: pulp, pb paperback, 1st ed. and Jennifer Jones { if she is on the cover. }

NOTE: It is only a first edition if it is a FIRST PRINTING.

sorry, I must have been having a senior moment myself. I thought Pulps (or Vintage) was a subcategory under paperbacks, but it's not.

Engelskdansk: This book says "Pocket Book Edition, Published August 1946."

Next line, all by itself, says "First printing, July 1946."

There is nothing listed beyond that.

Would you call this a 1st Pocket Book Edition?? I think it's confusing. Adele

Since the August date is there you do NOT have a first edition.

You have a SECOND printing. You could say "This is the August 1946 edition (first printing was in July 1946).

This edition lists on ADDALL for around $5-10.
