Someone just paid me with Billpoint. I do not accept Billpoint. I went to try and stop it, but I hit refund and it said it would DEBIT MY ACCOUNT! Are they taking money from my account? And why did the original sales detail disappear?

Help!

I don't think that can happen unless you agreed to accept Billpoint payments...
You have had to give eBay(Billpoint) your
checking account number in order for them to transfer the $$$ to you...If you had NOT signed up, your auctions would NOT have the Billpoint option on them...

I think...DUH..??

Hi Atari2600, Billpoint, where to begin.
Just a few questions;
Did you ever have a Billpoint account?
Is there a huge block of Billpoint options showing up on your auction ads to the right, just underneath Location?

Just asking because dear Billpoint and me have been going around and around for the last two weeks. Mysteriously (at first) these huge block ads to pay by Billpoint suddenly started to appear on my auction descriptions and I had cancelled my subscription to the Billpoint services back in June of 2000. Some how, some way, they were appearing in all of my auction listings and then I realized that this was somehow a default setting. As I am busily writing my auctions on eBay, I didn't notice this new default setting--even though I have not been a member since (ad nauseum) June 2000.

It's a nightmare. Just when I got the blame billpoint blurb out of my auctions, heard from them that they were sorry, etc. Just had an email tonight that they are going to debit my checking account for an auction that went south because of their meddling.
A high bidder paid with Billpoint. I am not registered, but they took the high bidders money anyway. Now I get this email that Billpoint is going to debit my account!
And to top it off, I lost that high bidder and their commitment. They are probably really tired of hearing of my snafu. And honestly, don't blame them--they thought they could pay by Billpoint and now I am telling them this is all a mistake.

Off to my bank in the am when they open, to see what transactions have taken place. And if need be, will close that account and open a new one.

Sorry for this long winded blovial, but something is wrong with eBay listings and Billpoint. You are not alone.

Oops, I should have mentioned that we don't take INTERNATIONAL payments with Billpoint. Even says so in our auction TOS. And the buyer is an international buyer.

Hi Atari2600, so from your last post, you do take domestic Billpoint, but not international Billpoint? To beg the question, Why? Money is money, honey.

Just wondering.

I guess you can blame it on all the horror stories that i read here at AW. I know fraud can happen from any country.

Also, billpoint fraud tips make me worry.

Atari2600, don't believe everything you read! I post US only auctions, but every now and then I have an international bidder that asks to bid and I say of course if you can pay with an international postal money order, BidPay or US Cash. Without fail, they adhere to my terms and I have a great transaction! International bidders are some of the best!!

Surely, by accepting Billpoint, your safety factor is increased by a hundredfold.

We have all made decisions about credit card acceptance. You have chosen Billpoint. Don't cut your nose to spite your face by not accepting international transactions through Billpoint.

It's all about a little green form that you fill out at the PO. That's it between a domestic and international transaction.

There is no great extra effort to accept international transactions especially if you are using Billpoint.

Just remember, in your auction decription to identify postage US and postage international.

It's a breeze. By the way, I am sure that Billpoint has given you a list of countries not to send to. In the whole scheme of things, a very small list.

Go for it!

Actually, my TOS says BidPay or PayingFast for international orders only. Buyer actually asked if we accept BidPay and I said yes. Next thing I know I get an e-mail saying that he'll pay by Billpoint instead, and before I can fire back not to, here comes the Billpoint e-mail.

Um--so what? You accept domestic Billpoint--why not international. Yes?

atari2600, I think I might understand. With BidPay you are not out any money, with Billpoint you have a fee to incur. Am I getting close?

All I am saying is that if you accept domestic Billpoint, I feel you are obligated to accept international Billpoint. It is only fair to your buyers whether they live one block away or in the South Pole.

But again, JMHO

I disagree. I do not think accepting domestic Billpoint payments means I should accept International payments.

Also, I thought the "safety factor" is worse for credit card transaction, especially from international transactions. At least, that is what I get from what I have read here.

And it has nothing to do with fee's and everything to do with fraud stories.
