I am glad someone else has these questions. We are currently shopping for an on-line, 3 rd party cerdit card payment system. [does tat about capture it?]
So far we are down to Paypal & c2it. I saw the banner on AW and out of spite for the pop-ups on Ebay [remember this AW.....you annoy people enough and they will not buy from/thru even of they can do so easily] I went to C2it by myself. They are even having a cross-promo with AOL and it is lame. Identical to C2it, but with AOL logos, names, etc.
so.......I went thru the C2it Site and looked for the costs.......unlike Paypal they have avoided the "always free" trap....by stating it is free until we change our mind. Then, I tried to find the fees......and I did not, and as a matter of fact, found it hard to do so......I only found an allusion to fees. I do not have a great deal of patience for this and as it took me over 15 minutes to NOT FIND the COSTS.......I bailed out.
Whats the verdict?
If these twits want to make it SO F'in hard to find out IN ADVANCE what it is going to cost, they can go pound sand. A clear, simple and easy-to -find site with all the fees spelled out is warranted and expected.
To do anything less is mis-leading and bordering on fraudulent.

C2it did a major revamp of their site and it looks like there are still some booboos. On the main page, if you go to the bottom of the screen there are a few links. One of them is fees and limits. But all I get is $0.00. Since I have been using them for months, these are the fees:
for sellers there are no fees for accepting payment. There is a $3 charge if a check is requested. No charge for deposits to credit card or bank account.
for buyers it is free for a month. C2it even pays the buyer $10 on the first payment. After the month, there is a 1% fee, with a 50 cent minimum. For most this is cheaper than mailing a check and the $10 covers the first $1000 in payments, so even buyers shouldnt complain. But if you're selling a high priced item, you might want to give the buyer a 1% discount. It's still cheaper and safer than Paypal or Billpoint. C2it claims that once a seller withdraws the funds, they will not be taken back unless seller fraud is indicated.
C2it has had a number of technical problems, so dont make this the only service you accept. I had at least three clients unable to sign up or send money.
