I've noticed seevral auctions with very cheap s&h postage. In fact, I asked if I could instead send an SASE (Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope for those not in the know) and offset their costs.
Out of 4 sellers:
2 gladly accepted the offer.
1 was "thinking about it."
1 told me to #*!@ off.
Seriously, if your postage costs are below $1.00, would you gladly acept an offer by the bidder to have them send an SASE, or are you that "greedy?"

I had one person ask me that once. This is what I told them:
I package my items professionally, with a bubble mailer and further protection inside. I also guarantee that you will receive the package undamaged or I will replace or refund. If I were to accept and use your SASE, the item would be placed unprotected in your envelope and sent with no guarantee that it would ever reach you, or that it would reach you undamaged. I also offer a 30 day return policy. If I ship it in your SASE, I will not offer you any return policy, as I cannot guarantee that the item will not be damaged.
This was an item that I charge $.85 for shipping. That includes the $.55 (at that time, now two cents more), a bubble mailer, and additional protective packaging. IOW, I'm not making money on shipping charges.
The guy very quickly sent me a check for the full amount, incuding the shipping charge.

I use endicia and premake packing lists and labels. My process is not set up to handle any stamps, labels, or other unsolicited assistance from the buyer. I have had a few people ask and I have told them just that, and that my S&H fee covers "H" as well as "S", and to please send cash as requested..

Let's see them try that with a "real" online store. Not everyone on ebay is having an electronic garage sale. It would also mess up my "system" to much to do odd things for people.
