Have any of your had any problems with PayPal as a seller? I used PP for awhile (never purchased through them) and had no problems. That is, until I had to close the account due to problems with my bank. (Nothing to do with lack of funds, thankfully.)

I e-mailed PayPal to ask them how to go about closing my account and deleting all person information. It took WEEKS and numerous e-mails before I ever heard the first response from them.

Now that everything's ironed out with the bank, I'd like to activate my PP account again. But frankly, after receiving such poor customer service from PP, I'm concerned about passing along all my personal and banking info again.

I'm a being overly cautious? Have any of you had any problem with PayPal having access to your bank account?

Thanks in advance for your insight.

Why did you bother trying to close it - did you give up buying and selling? I would have just got another account, maybe at a different bank, and changed that data in your paypal account.

Instead you go to the trouble of closing PP and then reopening...

Anyway to answer your question I don't think you should re-open your PP account if you don't trust them. Use billpoint, ebay will love to take your money (on top of their listing fees, final value fees, ....)

Oh sorry, your Question was whether we have had any problem w/ PP having "access" (??) to our bank account.

Answer is no. Anyway they don't have "access" to my bank account except to deposit $ when I ask them to.

here is a good example of people cussing paypal when they dont understand how to use paypal.
if you are having problem with your bank, close the bank account.
if you are having problem with paypal, close the paypal account.
anyway, read the other threads,i thought there are plenty of complaints on how paypal reach down to the member bank account and GRAB a chunk of money from it when there is chargeback.

i must congratulate paypal on its success.after that infamous letter sending out to ebay bidders ,paypal users seem to be on the rise,i have like 7/10 ebay bidders use paypal.just like the russian pavlov experiment, bidders trooped to paypal to make payment (or do they just follow paypal roadmap-hyperlink in the end of auction email??)
paypaldamon seems to be more courteous and attentive than ever,he must have received a big raise!!

I have had like 0/60 bidders use paypal

Because I no longer offer it, and haven't missed one second of them.

They are a fad, and they too, shall pass (once they start charging the money SENDER a fee)

yes I am having problems right now. As I am in Canada I have a canadian bank account and
could'nt get my bank (royal bank) to accept as they don't take ACH transfers. Why doesn't
PayPal just state this on the banking info form? Oh ya it's because they can take $20 bucks from thousands of people whoose bank do not accept ACH transfers.

Grrrrrr.

I love PayPal, I've never had a problem with it. Most of my buyers love it too - they all use it!

Funny--I just sent an email to Billpoint telling them I want to quit. I wonder how many weeks it will take THEM to reply? To me, Billpoint is much more complicated than PayPal, takes longer, and is downright deceitful (ie "Instant Pay" button that my buyers press even when they don't even know what Billpoint is). I too have never had one problem with PAYPAL. I can reach them 24 hours by phone. They are going to be my only online payment service VERY SOON.

Did this take place in the year 2000?

did you check paypal site for instruction on how to close account and delete information?
i think all these dot coms are understaffed, even amzn, yahoo and ebay.
if they have to provided superb services,i am afraid we will have to pay more.
i have an online shop and i use paymentech for cc processing and their customer service, technical support and new customer rep always come to the phone and are always helpful, but i pay them 22.95 a month .

Yes, I do believe it was either late in 2000 or early in 2001 that I needed to close the account.

Also, it was a personal PP account since I only do a few transactions a month on my own as a hobby. I'm thinking of gearing up and doing more, however, and it looks like their business accounts may offer more customer service.

Any thoughts on personal vs. business accounts? (I know if I ever start doing any selling direct from a website I'll need the business account or some other service.)

if you are going to do more ,then you need either a premier or business acount with paypal, yes they offer more-more fees!!
you can find all the info on their website, including seller protection policy and a reduction in discount fee.
it is still easier than having a merchant account with a bank, and cheaper too.
it is easy on your customers, most of them know how to use paypal and they dont want to email you twice breaking up their cc info in two separate emails.
also some do not want to give any seller their cc info, this way, they give that info to paypal and not individual sellers.
