About mid August I got a cluster of deadbeats. From this Aug. 16th through the 19th I've got 6 no-payers. But none before that for a while. Hopefully none after for a while too.
But last August a year ago was the same. A cluster of deadbeats around mid-August. Weird, huh? Since it's becoming a pattern there must be a reason. But I don't know what that would be.

It's a little known fact that the chupacabra is most active in mid-August. During this time, it makes mischief by giving teenagers their parents' passwords.

This time a deadbeat did me a favor. I sold an item for $107.00 and didn't get paid. After filing my FVF I relisted. This time it sold for $227.00 and I got paid the next day. So, not all deadbeats are bad?

On a more serious note: yes. I had as many deadbeats the first two weeks of August as I did the whole rest of the year. So... I took two weeks off. I didn't track it last year - the only reason it really hit home this year was because by the end of June, I'd had less than one deadbeat per month on about 120-160 sales per month. Then from July 20 something to Aug 15, I had six deadbeats on fewer sales.
Chupacabras - the only time I've ever heard of them was on an xfiles episode. They're ugly and scary.

The same thing happened to me last year about this time. A bidder deadbeated on a $21.00 item (a mid-August sale). The auction was a total flop and barely went over what I paid for the thing. The second time I auctioned it in September it brought $140.00!

I noticed that ALOT of my bidders had 0-5 feedback! Made the closing of the auction scary for me...had 1 NPB and have another bidder stating that their payment (2 weeks late at best) must be lost in snail mail....Whatever! Anyway, I just love seeing my bidders now with 700+ feedback!
