I bought an item on Saturday from someone with 224 positives from unique users. I was just checking a link in the listing and noticed that the seller is now NARU.
I used to think that no one would spend months building up positive feedback and then start ripping people off. Of course, I don't know why the seller went NARU and it's possible I'll still get the item. But I'm not expecting to see it.

Dont assume the worst. Ebay has instituted a lot of stupid rules that have po'd a lot of long time sellers. Recently a shooting star with over 20,000 positives posted an auction about how stupid ebay is. I almost went NARU because ebay kept shutting down my auctions over rule violations and every time I fixed the problem and relisted, they found another thing wrong and shut them down again. The "new" problems were not new things I added but something that was there in the original listing. All of my customers would have received their items, no matter what the outcome on ebay. My reputation does not live or die by ebay and I'm sure that most other sellers feel the same.

About a month ago I bought something from a seller with more than 8,000 feedback. The day I got the item I went to leave feedback and the seller was NARU.
This seller had links to their website to buy stuff directly. They had a $5.00 off coupon offer too if you "upgraded" you auction purchase to more than $25.00 with an additional purchase from their website. It looked more like an ad than an auction. eBay is real serious about "leakage" and fee avoidance.

Sellers sometimes buy as well, and sometimes don't pay for what they win. I recently filed the third FVF on a seller with well over 1000 feedback rating -- they went NARU for a few days until I received their payment.
