Can anyone tell me anything about this mark? It's from a tea-set the father of an elderly friend of mine bought for her in 1929; he bought it in San Francisco. The letters around the top appear to be "Chikahamachi". Underneath that are the words "Hand Painted" and then, around the bottom "Made in Japan." The logo in the center appears to be a crown of some sort and this is surrounded by what seem to be some sort of leafy branches. I'm assuming the set is porcelain...it's translucent. The set contains 4 cups/saucers, 4 plates and a tea pot...all miniature. Thanks for any help...As usual.

It does not appear to be an important mark. And the finish looks to be orange lustre. Thousands of small factories were producing this type of wares, made only for export, in that time period. It is POST Nippon, and PRE Occupied Japan, and does not have too much value; the set is also missing the sugar and creamer. Still, since it is a "miniature" therefore probably a child's Doll Tea Set, you should be able to find a buyer.
