A few weeks ago someone here asked about Starband, and I couldn't praise it enough. Well what ever happend to "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?" They upgraded to the 360 and they sent it "free" Should have known that was the first sign of trouble. I was just going to keep the 180 and send their new modem back. NOOOO, as of Sept. 1st you could no longer use the 180. Nothing but problems. They have a wonderful help line IF you have 2 hours to wait your turn on hold and than I was disconnected. I even had a Tech. come out and the system is so knew, he was not much help, but very nice. It is very S-L--O---W now and disconnects all the time. I live in Hooterville and can't even get voice mail so forget cable. Thought I found a solution ...but I guess I forgot to knock on wood. Now we wait to get the service we orginally paid for. Have a GREAT day!

Have you tried Prodigy? It worked very well for me before I switched to a cable modem. Also, my sister has earthlink and loves it. It is really cheap - and she says she never gets bumped off.

Good luck to you.

I had thought that DirecPC ( the DirecTv alternative to STARBAND) was gonna save me from the 3.4 DL as well, until I found out that the set-up was @ $700!!!!..AND it was ONLY for the Internet...the same ole DirecTv stuuf wiil be available later...(TWO dishes on my roof??? No THANKS!!!)

If I happened to be the one who pased the info to you, PLEASE accept my apologies..I am SOOO disappointed in BOTH these services!!!

Becky, I had to have 2 phone lines and pay an additional $15 month for adjacent calling for each line (everything would be long distance without that). I also needed 2 servers as my Son needs the computer for classes. The best hook up we could get was 26400, we keep up to date with our computers, but it didn't matter.
Keith, we have 1 dish for Dish TV and Starband combined. I ain't cheap to get set up but I love living in the boonies and the internet is a must have item in my priority list. Getting rid of 1 phone line and 1 server saves the $60 a month which Starband cost. I hope they will get the kinks out real fast as I THOUGHT Starband was the best and bragged about it to all my friends and neighbors. Never tasted Crow and don't care to try it.
Thanks folks, and enjoy the end of summer. Sandy
