I just saw this story on MSNBC. I accept C2it from Citibank on my auctions, but I've never had anyone use it.

Are any of you having problems with it? For those of you who use it often, how is everything going? Any problems??

Good luck to all, and happy ebaying!

I have been using c2it for about 3 months, about 45 payments. At first it was fine until 7/27 (that's was my first problem). I discovered after I sent the package that c2it would not let me claim the payment. I had to contact the customer and ask him to call c2it. My customer did and all was fine with that transaction. But that wasonly the first of my problems. Ever since then I have never gotten an email to say I got cash...I must check it daily.

Since the last upgrade ...two weekends ago now. I have had everything go wrong. The upgrade shows your available cash. What a joke! I should of had no balance but it said I have close to $300 (with most transaction being $20 I was concerned). I called every night for 3 nights and 3 days because to make this worse I could not and still can not see my history. Each person I spoke with told me my bank was refusing the payments and that is why I have this balance. I checked with my bank and they had a bunch of payments from c2it. So why the balance? Well, finally after over 5 hours of conversations with those people at c2it I was told by a supervisor that my balance is WRONG! And I actually believe it is now after review each transaction with my records and my banks.

Anyway, I had to set up a second account because I had an email address change. Now I have the same problem...I can not claim a customer payment. Again, I was told to contact the customer and have them call in. I told them that is not right- the problem is between them and their customer it should be FIXED before I even know the payment is there. At least this time I have not yet mailed the item.

I will say this....at least the customer service people are there and I never hold waiting for one...but they do NOT know how to read their computer screens at all and need more training!

That's only the tip of the iceberg with potential C2it problems.

What happens when and if C2it gets hacked and your SS# and Date of Birth info gets stolen? It can happen. I had my credit card # stolen and an unauthorized charge made when Egghead.com was hacked earlier this year. I'll bet Citibank is less technically savvy than Egghead and your info will be even more vulnerable.

I tend to believe the C2it is more technically savvy then Egghead. They had a major hack into their system in the late 80's and I would believe they take security more seriously than Egghead.

But they are having so many technical problems lately, I may soon stop accepting it. I was getting several C2it payments a week. In the past two weeks, only one of my customers was able to sign up. All C2it can tell the others is wait a few more days. The last payment I got near the end of August never made it to my bank account. All C2it can tell me is wait a few more days. After a great start, this has been a big disappointment.

Somewhat off-topic:

VISA issued a press release earlier this week. On-line credit credit transactions will become safer:

I hope Citibank is more technically savvy, but if Microsoft and the Pentagon could get hacked, why not Citibank? Maybe hackers haven't targeted them to date since they don't realize what kind of valuable user info Citibank stores in its online database.

Some just sent me 12.50 and I transfered that into my CC. Now the available cash shows negative .50 and their site is ridiculously slow.

Can anyone log into their account today. This message made me look to see if they hadn't notified me of payments made and I couldn't log on.

C2it's security might be top of the line, but if they are sharing that info then all bets are off.

NEW YORK, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Credit cardholders have sued Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C -news), alleging the No. 1 U.S. financial services company and leading credit card issuer unlawfully provided private account information to telemarketers and vendors, plaintiffs' lawyers said on Thursday.

I have been offering c2it for the past several months as a method for making payment. No one even attempted to use it until this past week, and when they did, they said that they couldn't get into the site to initiate the payment. That person ended up sending payment in the form of a money order.

By the way, on most of my auctions, I offer PayPal, Billpoint, c2it, and BidPay, as well as checks, money orders, and cash. Half of my auction winners pay with PayPal, the other half with either checks or money orders. In two years, I have had one person pay with Billpoint and one person with BidPay.

I have been experimenting lately to see whether offering PayPal will make any difference in my auction results, and what other methods people will use to make payment if PayPal isn't an option. Most just switch to personal check and never even ask about c2it. My one BidPay customer was from Australia; I am sure that he used BidPay because of currency conversion problems (I did not offer PayPal or Billpoint in that auction).

By the way, I buy and sell postage stamps, with worldwide bidders gladly accepted.
