I've seen references to Ladder Auctions in reference to some auction sites, like eBay, here and there. What exactly is this?

the price climbs like you would climb a ladder, one step at a time....there are ladder auctions , silent auctions.............just a guess but i bet i am close unless some painter is selling his tools

Price drops until there is a buyer. No auction fever, just hard to wait for a price drop on something you want.

JCPenney had ladder auctions running on the now defunct O.C. Register auction site. It's an interesting concept. The buyer in theory decides to buy it, once that important decission is made it's just a matter of price.

JC Penney still lists their ladder auctions on LYCOS auctions. The listings are under "Falling Prices".

someone e-mailed me (considering the fact that my e-mail ain't showing...Care to explain moderators?? TECHNICAL GLITCH?? ), and told me that theirs a variation of the Ladder Auctions on some auctions.

When the price rises on an item, the seller would offer something per increment.

For example:

Item starts at $10.

At $35, one free item or upgrade (depending on the item)

At $65, two free items or an upgrade.

At $95, three free items or an upgrade

and so on and so forth...

He told me that it happens in one area of eBay, but declined to tell me.

Okay, now i'm getting really confused.
