I purchased a box of miscellaneous items from an estate sale. Inside were: one Kate Spade bag, and 3 older Louie Vuitton bags in fair condition. There is no serial number that I can find but the Louie Vuitton bags have the grommets stamped Louie Vuitton and there is also a Louie Vuitton made in France etc., stamped into the leather strap near the bottom edge.

Also found a Chanel purse but no serial number, unless it is hidden.

I know nothing about LV, but as far as Kate Spade goes, I have several real and, unfortunately, have bought several fake on ebay. The best indicator of real vs fake for Kate is the lining. On the real ones, the lining is completely and totally attached to the purse - in other words, there is no slack material on the lining at all. Not to say that a fake couldn't be well done enough to have a good lining, but ALL of the fakes I have bought/seen have really loose, slack lining.
On my Chanel, that I know is real, and the others I have seen at Nordstrom and Chanel boutiques, the serial number is obvious. Not sure how accurate that is for all of there items - I know very little about these.

nofishing,

Please take this for the helpful post that I intend it to be, but....

Do not spell out "Louie" in your auctions like you have in your post. It is actually spelled "Louis", but pronounced "Louie".

I say this because if people do keyword searches on Ebay for "Louis Vuitton" then your items would not come up in the searches and people would miss your items.

Good luck to you.

Also, and this is no guarantee, but the Kate Spade label should definitely be sewn on the bag, not glued. Many good fakes have sewn on labels, but NO authentic Spades have glued-on labels.

There should usually be four feet on the bottom of the bag to keep it clean when it is set down.

As for the Vuittons, if you are not 100% sure these are authentic, don't say they are. And be prepared for the lawyer letters once you put the bags on eBay. I sold some once and got hounded. Sold them anyway, and nothing happened.

Good luck!

As for the Louis Vuittons, the lining will be fabric, and the monogram, the LV will never be cut in half, it is always whole, there won't be one on the seams that is only part there.

Kate Spades Amy black tote does not have metal feet on bottom, Also Kate Spade bags have a made in USA tag hidden inside somewhere. Mine is in the inside pocket.

>>>In the Lv lining is fabric<<<
It's not, it's leather,
Outside is monogram coated canvas.
LV do come with a serial number so does Chanel,
But in the earlier years they DIDNT put them in,
My grandmama has like 30 years old Chanel
And it's real and all, they just didnt have need to put them in for a very long time,
Replicas/ fakes are fairly recent,
So they implemented the serial numbers.
How old are the bags?
In the desc. I would try to state the app
Age.
I must admit, I have 4 real Louis Vuitton bags
And one fake one and other then the serial number you cannt tell the diff.
All golden rivets, same stamp inside,
And all...
The one good ex. Is that Louis Vuitton will NEVER put the leather stamp on the outside,
It's always on the inside.
(louis Vuitton, paris, made in France)
