I really wish that when listing an item on eBay and select the "Ship to US Only" option, eBay would BLOCK non US Bidders!
For verious reasons I don't ship overseas but yet everyday someone will bid on my item asking "can you make an exception". Then they get made when you will not ship. I've had 2 people now say to me "I saw that you ship to US only but I bid anyway, please ship or I'll NEG you". And sure enough they did NEG me.
You may way "well you can NEG them as well" but since I'm a power seller with 7000+ feedback I feel negging them would be pointless as their negging me was more of a hurt.
Anyway, why does eBay allow non US bidders bidding on auctions marked "US shipping Only"?

eBay could fix this problem with about 10 lines of code that would verify an ID's stated address before allowing a bid. The problem is that non-US bidders could lie about their address to bypass this; which can get them kicked off eBay, but not before ticking off a few sellers.
Why eBay doesn't put the conditional code in is beyond me.

Three possible reasons why they don't:
1. Sellers who mistakenly have this set when they don't mean it, whether by accident, default, or ignorance. Ebay wants more (and higher) bids, so blocking bids isn't high on their priority list.
2. Sellers who *think* they mean this, but do give in and ship internationally. Again, see reason #1 above.
3. Buyers who have an international address, but have made arrangements to have the item shipped domestically. Not sure if this also applies to fpo/apo addresses?

I always ask before bidding if the vendor will ship to UK. Mostly they will say yes, but if not, I have several USA addresses they can ship to. I will always win lots I want from USA. This is not my trading name.

As a buyer, I would very much appreciate it if Ebay were to block me from sellers that didn't ship to the U.S. - there's always a wee little quick instance of high frustration for having opened an auction page, only to find I don't "qualify" to bid. I'm all for eliminating any such frustrations from my life. Besides, I would be able to examine more auctions that I *DO* qualify for during my limited browsing time, which (one would think) would end up being more beneficial to EVERYONE involved.

I ship anywhere, but the real problem is eBay DOES filter listings by country available to, but buyers don't use it.
If Canadian buyers would stay on eBay Canada, they would only see items available to Canada... Same with the UK, Germany, Japan, Austraila, Austria, France, etc.
