I believe that there are some buyers using the recent tragedies as a buying opprotunity to buy items at very low prices due to the greatly reduced activity at eBay and other online auction sites. Very few if any online sites have shut down due to the tragic events and perhaps they should have done so instead of only looking at their bottom lines.

Perhaps. But for some in other countries, this is a footnote to them -- would we stop when the IRA bombed a site in London?

I loved that QVC and HSN and other channels all ceased their programs yesterday and directed folks to their news channels. That was a classy decision.

Even HGTV and Food Network ceased programming.

While there isn't a person out in here in the rest of the country who doesn't still gasp at the video of that plane slamming into the second tower, and I would bet even a few atheists were saying prayers for the victims and the country yesterday; one fact does remain: LIFE GOES ON!

Quite frankly, none of our mortgage holders, credit card companies, utility providers, and the like, are going to "give us a free month" due to this tragedy. Those with families to support, probably did the same thing I had to do yesterday....tear away from the terrifying scenes and news reports to go do our jobs! Mine just happens to be as a shop owner and part of my DAILY activity is to skim thru catagories and bid on items for store stock.....and quite frankly, I didn't run much that could have been considered a "bargin" on closing auctions.

My heart may have not really been in it yesterday, but the SLEEZEBAG COWARDS who did this to our country WANT us to react by "shutting down"! Even Bush found the right words last night by saying that this will NOT stop the greatest country and that we WILL go on and rebuild!

This tragedy; much like a downturn in the economy; will only be TRULY successful
if we talk ourselves into letting it be what the terrorists want!

ebay is my income, so I must continue as normal as possible for my survival.

Personally, I understand reporting of the news but I can not get anything else on the TV for the past 24 hours! Every channel reporting the same thing over and over and over. PLEASE STOP! Break in when you have something new to say, PLEASE.

I had to laugh at two reports this morning -

#1 They claim 99% of the people polled said they have watched/listened to the attack reports. DID THEY HAVE ANY CHOICE? IT IS EVERYWHERE. THE BANK, THE POST OFFICE, THE GROCERY STORE all had a television and radios too tuned in. How can one avoid it?

#2 They gave tips to keep your child from become overwhelmed with this attack to (and this was the first tip) turn off the TV.

Sorry, got a little off the subject.

If I had something I wanted to buy - I'd be looking on ebay. I see nothing wrong with that. Bidders do the same thing at holidays - hoping others are not looking - and try to find a bargain.

Tragedy happens and has happened in a big way here BUT an individuals life must still go on. We can not all stop and do nothing. If we did the TERRORIST have won in a much bigger way then they could have imagined.

Now, go and try to have a good day.
